Thanks, everyone, for your generous replies. I will check with the library for the Lewis and Clark information. Does anyone know anything about the other family, James and John Fields related to the Ridge family? Patience
I am seeking information on Andrew Field/Fields, b. 5 Jan 1856. He lived in later years in Osawatomie Kansas. Married, Mary Messler Fry 02 Nov. 1914 in Osawatomie. Died 12 July 1929 and is buried in Osawatomie. Andrew was a retired engineer on the Missouri Pacific railroad and was a property owner in Osawatomie. Seeking information on who Andrew's parents, siblings were. Also who was his first wife? Any other information that you might have would be helpful. Barbara
Would this be links to Field(s) web pages? Or a place to post reports? I not sure I understand. JD Noel Fields wrote: > I'm considering adding something to my website. Hmmmm... I will definitely keep your email in case I find anything else. I have not been able to find my Fields' family in the 1850 or 1860 census for Illinois. I'm beginning to suspect that they may have married and perhaps lived for a time in either PA or IN (Lucy Ann Brooks' records are conflicting -- some state that she was born in PA, some state she was born in IN. Her mother was Susannah Winan, which I know is a derivative of Winant, a name commonly found in the Dutch colonies, so I suspect she may have been of the Pennsylvania Dutch.) I do have many accounts showing that the fourth child of Edmund Fields and Lucy Ann Brooks was born 1864 in Springfield, IL. All of Edmund's records state that he hailed from Illinois, which is why I've been looking for his family there. His death certificate states that he was born 1830 in Illinois. To complicate matters, I recently came across a great-aunt's notes that states he was actually born in England, the family emigrated t! ! o IL in the early 1830's and added the 's' at that time. I have not found one shred of evidence to substantiate this... In any case, thanks for your response. I will definitely keep this on file in case anything else comes up. I'm considering adding something to my website. Fields as a surname seems to be a diverse, and yes, frustrating at times, surname. I have been thinking of adding a section that would be devoted to the Fields surname (one name study). This would be a place to gather information on any and all Fields (not just a specific tree) where anyone researching the Fields surname could go for gedcoms, links, research aids, documents, pictures etc. As Fields researchers, would this be something you would like to see? I want to make sure there is some interest before I go too overboard with this thought. Just let me know :) Noel - Fields Listmanager

Would someone be so kind as to open a door in this brick wall I have run into, and can't seem to move? My wife's ggrandfather was Isaac Hardy Fields, b AL 1828, killed Ft Donelson 2/16/1862. He married Susan Smith, b. AL 1828, in 1853 Tishomingo Co. MS. He moved to Tishomingo County, MS between 1850 and 1853. Looking for parents/siblings. Fields people lived in a close community in Tishomingo Co, MS in 1860 and they included Nancy Fields b.1811 in Kentucky, widow of James Fields, John Fields b. 1804 N.C. William Fields b. 1827 in Ala., Levi Fields b. 1825 in Tenn, wife Dehry b. 1821 in N.C.,Asy Fields b. 1795 in Alabama, wife Laura b. 1795 in Ala., David Fields b. 1826 in Ala, Len Fields b. 1823 in Tenn, wife Rebecca b. 1834 in Tenn. Since all these people lived in close proximity, it makes me think they are related. With the exception of Nancy (and David deceased before 1850), all these people moved to Tishomingo Co. Miss after 1850. If I could locate them in the 1850 census, it would certainly shed some light. Thanks a million for any help you might give me. Tom Sherard

Would like any information on Anne FIELDS, wife of Benjamin ROBERTS. They were in Culpeper, VA area and possibly related to Daniel and Abraham Field(s). Could Anne be a widow of a Field, and be a daughter of a DULANEY family. Its possible since I have a Dulaney connection but comes in at another part of my family tree. Right now I am working on trying to solve the Anne FIELD and if she is the one who married Benjamin Roberts, he is another one hard to follow, there are so many Benjamins. Will be glad to pay postage or copy fees if anyone has this information. Thanks in advance. Donald Wilkerson [email protected]

Dear Gail [that's a good name! I have a sis, Gale and a good friend, Gail], I'm sorry but I don't find any of the FIELDS names you mention in my file. Do you have any geographical locations for these people? Where born/ married/ died- or can you guess where they might have lived? Were they in Russell County or Augusta Co, VA --or in Lawrence Co, Ohio --or in Springfield, Greene Co, Missouri? These are all places where my FIELDS lived. My husband's ggrandmother had a sister named Cora Jane FIELDS who was born 1869 in Lawrence Co, Ohio, their parents were William Russell Fields and Mary Delawder. There in Lawrence Co, Ohio I also saw a Thomas FIELDS b 15 Feb 1870 and his brother James FIELDS b 12 Jan 1872 the sons of James C. FIELDS and Mary WOTON (or Winnie OOTEN).
