Hi, Today I received a film at our local FHC from the I.G.I. It's film number 1395908, Batch # F848547, Serial Sheet 1 (North Carolina). It has two family groups. One sheet for Obediah FIELDS and Avis SMITH and has Lunsford FIELDS listed as a child of this couple with Nancy BRAGG as his wife. It lists David FIELDS as his father (no mother's name listed). The other sheet is for the father David FIELDS, born 1740 in NC. Children listed for David are: 1. Obedier (their spelling), who married Avis SMITH 2. Abner 3. Jerry 4. Dilly 5. Effie 6. Martha 7. Atilda 8. Sabra I have been going by the Randolph County, Indiana History that says that Lansford FIELDS' mother was Avis BIRD. It, also, gives the impression that the descendancy goes: Lansford, Obediah, Lansford---not, David, Obediah, Lansford. Can anyone on this list help me clarify this situation? I'm really confused about this and going to NC to find out is out of the question right now. If you know the answers to my questions, will you please let me know how you know? Well, I see we are active again! I am in search of Ida Mae/May Fields. she is the daughter of John Riley Fields & Lettie Lorena Loghry. she married in Lower TX. to a man by the name of George Folsom. her sister Marie Elizabeth Fields married the son of George Folsom & his first wife his name is Perry Folsom. so now the two sisters are related in another manner as well. I tried the Folsom site, & they were happy to know the names of these women, so they dont know anymore than I do. so if you have these two women I sure would like to find you. I am looking for the descendants of Anderson Fields. Anderson was born in Gwinnett County, Georgia in 1859. He and his wife, Louvenia Samples moved to Alabama around 1900. They had one daughter, Lillie, who married Melvin Sims, and five sons that lived to adulthood, Johnson, Barney, Felton, Floyd and Ted Fields. Their descednants are presently scattered from the east coast ot the wets coast. Ted Fields married Odell Carroll and moved to Arizona. Deliah/Darkey/Dorcas FIELDS (bd1805 icholas Co., KY ddl7-23-1871 Franklin, Lane Co., OR) was the daughter of Ebenezer FIELDS (bd circa 1770-76). On 6-24-1823 in Ray Co., MO she married Christopher Taylor. They appear on the 1850 MO census, and on the 1860 and 1870 Lane Co., OR census records. Dorcas and Christopher Taylor had 12 children (John, Female, Female, Female, Jaems, Joseph, Cynthia, Amanda, Levi, Rachel, William and Hannah). Are there any descendants of Dorcas out there; willing to exchange information.

Hello: I (no we) are still researching Ebenezer FIELDS (bd circa 1770-76 place unknown) who is first found on the 1797 Bourbon Co., KY Tax List. In doing research in CT I find there are quite a few FIELDS in CT where the name Ebenezer appears for several generations. However, the names only go down to circa 1725-1735 in the books I have come across. Is there anyone out there who is/has researched the FIELDS out of CT who could conclude whether there was one Ebenezer FIELDS who may have left CT and gone to KY. Liz Freeman In Oklahoma!

Have been lurking about for quite a while so it's time to post. Seeking information on descendants of Eldridge FIELDS (bd6-1820 Ray Co., MO). He was the 9th child of Ebenezer FIELDS (bd circa 1770-76). On 1-16-1840 in Ray Co., MO Eldridge married Cynthia Anne Clark (bd 1824-28 KY). He is shown on the 1840, 1850, 1860 and 1880 Ray Co., MO census records. They had eight children (Ebenezer-b1840, Emily-1843, Mary Polly-bd1845, Susan-b1847, Hiram-b1849, Henry-b1852, Anderson-b1855, and Amanda-b1857. REASONS TO BELIEVE THAT MARY, WIFE OF NATHANIEL FIELDS WAS MARY ALLEN, DAUGHTER OF WILLIAM AND MARY HUNT ALLEN: By James R. Rolff 1. The naming of Mary's children works very well with this Allen theory: a. JOHN FIELDS: Recently found information indicates a good possibility that the father of Nathaniel Fields was a John Fields, consistant with the tradition of naming the first child after the father's father. b. ANSEL FIELDS: c. AGATHA FIELDS: d. WILLIAM FIELDS: Named after Mary's father, William Allen. e. OBEDIAH FIELDS: (This name has replaced the Elijah Fields on the original list of children, because Bill has shown many reasons that Nathaniel and Mary had a son Obediah, but there has been no record found of a son Elijah after Mary's Land Patent. Because of these things, and the fact that the name of Elijah Joyce appearred on the Land Patent, it is apparent that Ralph Gorrell made the mistake of listing child Obediah as Elijah) f. SUSANNA FIELDS: Named after Mary's sister, Susanna Allen. g. ROBERT NELSON PLEASANTS FIELDS: In Albemarle Co., Va., where the William Allen family lived, there was a Robert Fields living, who seems to be of the same generation as Nathaniel Fields. It's likely that Nathaniel was in Albemarle Co. around 1751 to meet and marry Mary Allen. In 1751, when William Allen wrote his will, his daughter Mary was still single. Mary was 13 years old at that time, and would have married soon after that to have been having first child John born in 1752. No record of Nathaniel Fields has been found in Albemarle Co., but I'm contending that this Robert Fields found there was a brother of Nathaniel, and that Nathaniel's son Robert N.P. Fields was named after him and the Nelson and Pleasants families that also appear in the records of Albemarle Co. A daughter of the Albemarle Co. Robert Fields married a NELSON Moss. h. ALLEN FIELDS: What better circumstantial evidence could there be than to have a child named for the family that Mary came from? 2. The fact that in Albemarle Co., Va. there is this William and Mary Hunt Allen family available, and that that family did have a daughter named Mary, born in 1738, who in 1751 was single in a county that did have a Fields family in residence, and that although this William Allen family has been heavily researched, nobody has yet found any other husband for the daughter Mary. 3. Other research has shown that in Stokes Co., North Carolina there were families of Lansford Fields, Davis Fields, and Stephan Fields, and that indications are very strong that these guys were all brothers of Nathaniel Fields. In Albemarle Co., Va. there is a 1746 Court Order that Stephan and David Fields be bound out. The name Davis Fields has often been misread as David Fields. This record is a great indication that the family of Nathaniel Fields was in Albemarle Co., Va. around the time Nathaniel and Mary Allen would marry. 4. The fact that Mary Allen Fields in Rockingham Co., N.C. was in VERY close association during her widowhood with other children of William and Mary Hunt Allen, as follows: a. Elijah Joyce lived on land in Rockingham Co., N.C. that adjoined the land of Mary Allen Fields, and his name appears on several Fields records. The wife of Elijah Joyce was Elizabeth ALLEN, a neice of Mary Allen Fields through her brother Valentine. b. Valentine Allen, a son of William and Mary Hunt Allen, lived on land in Rockingham Co., N.C. that adjoined Turbefield Barnes, whose wife was Agatha Fields, daughter of Mary Allen Fields, and there were several other Valentine Allen to Fields associations. c. William Hunt Allen "of Buckingham Co., Va.", another son of William and Mary Hunt Allen, sold his land in Rockingham Co., N.C. to the Irion family "of Bedford Co., Va.", a family that was in various ways associated with our Fields family in Rockingham Co. d. Mary Allen Fields' son, John Fields, was in many ways very closely associated with the Nathaniel Scales family, and several children of the abovementioned Valentine Allen married children of this Nathaniel Scales. e. Judith Allen, sister of Mary Allen Fields, married Hutchins Burton. Many associations of our Fields family have been found with Hutchins Burton, including the fact that a 2nd Lt. Hutchins Burton was in the same 6th Virginia Regiment in which Nathaniel Fields served and they both died at about the same time in 1777 while serving. It appears that this particular Hutchins Burton was a nephew of Mary Allen Fields. Also, in Rockingham Co., N.C. there's a 1792 deed that includes a Hutchins Burton and several people familiar to Mary Allen Fields. Also, Obediah Fields, son of Mary Allen Fields, married a Catharine BURTON. They named a son Joseph BURTON Fields, and this Joseph had sons John H.B. Fields and Thomas H.B. Fields. Very possibly these "H.B.s" were "Hutchins Burtons". f. Mary Allen Fields' brother, Samuel Allen, was certainly familiar with the Fields family. He married Martha Archer, grandaughter of Peter Field. They named children Patty FIELD Allen and FIELD Allen, and a daughter married Peter FIELD Jefferson, a grandson of Peter Field. There is some evidence that Nathaniel Fields was related in some way to Peter Field. 5. A will of Mary Hunt Allen, widow of William Allen of Albemarle Co., Va., would likely name a daughter, Mary Fields, but this will has not been found yet. She had been married to Robert Minge before marrying William Allen. In 1753 Mary Hunt Minge Allen married in Lunenburg Co., Va. to FIELD Jefferson, an uncle of the president. He died in 1765, and left a will in Mecklenburg Co., Va., in which he left to his wife Mary a gold ring, because of a prenuptual agreement. This will was written in 1762, but per bible record Mary died in 1763. Any will at this time would be for Mary Hunt Minge Allen Jefferson, and would likely be recorded in Lunenburg Co., Buckingham Co., or Cumberland Co., but none has yet been found. A Rockingham Co., N.C. Court record of 1787 states that William Hunt Allen of Buckingham Co., Va. gave a female slave named Charlotte to Valentine Allen Jr. after the death of Mary Anglin. This William Hunt Allen is the brother of Mary Allen Fields, as is Valentine Allen Sr. The Mary Anglin is unknown at this time, but this record seems to be estate connected, and there is some possibility that Mary Anglin was Mary Hunt Minge Allen Jefferson Anglin. For this to be true the bible record stating she died in 1763 would have to be wrong, possibly 1783 being read as 1763. There are some reasons to believe this Anglin connection to be possible: a. Adrian ANGLIN witnessed the 1751 will of William Allen of Albemarle Co., Va. b. Adrian ANGLIN witnessed the 1752 deed of Valentine Allen, son of William and Mary Allen. c. Adrian ANGLIN lived in Buckingham Co., Va. on land that adjoined William Hunt Allen, son of William and Mary Allen. d. Adrian ANGLIN had a son, Phillip Anglin, born 1742, who later lived in Rockingham Co., N.C. and later sold his land there to Peter FIELD Trent. e. James ANGLIN in Kentucky witnessed a deed of William Strong, a grandnephew of Nathaniel Fields. Any possible will of a Mary Hunt Minge Allen Jefferson Anglin would most likely be recorded in Buckingham Co., Va. Very few records of that county have survived. I had considered the possibility that Mary Anglin of the 1787 record was Mary Allen Fields in a second marriage, but Bill gave much evidence that Mary Allen Fields was known by that name long after the year 1787. At this time Mary Anglin remains a mystery.

Court Note: The page with information about their parents, DOB, etc. was not filled out by the clerk, it was not just these two people, but everyone in the book. Minister return - July 22, 1891 J. F. Shepherd and Mary S. Fields, married by Eld. D. M. Ward, at the home of J. B. Bingham, Jackson Co., Name of Witness present, J. B. Bingham and S. N. Bradshaw. J. F. Shepherd is James Finley SHEPHERD son of Samuel Cicero SHEPHERD and Elizabeth Jane PETERS, of Owsley Co., KY. Mary Susan and Finley Shepherd had one son Charles Blaine Shepherd b. July 4, 1894, Jackson Co., KY d. December 19, 1958, Kenton Co., KY. Samuel Cicero Shepherd also know as Cecil Shepherd is the son of George Washington Shepherd and Mary "Polly" Neeley.
