    3. FCO was disbanded once the e-mail group got started. We thought that this e-mail list was a better way to go. Also, the person who started it, Sam BRown, I think, had major family medical problems that he had to take care of and didn't have time for FCO. He was going to set up a website and post all the old issues of the FCO newsletter, but that was kicked to the curb, so to speak. 3. 2nd try, it would really help if I had thought to subscribe to the list using my new e-mail address <grin> _______________________ A few weeks ago I mentioned that I thought a good idea for a website area, would be a place for any Fields researcher to be able to send in their information, and others could browse it. The idea met with a lot of positive feedback. I was going to put this on my personal genealogy website, but I decided that I wanted this to be more than "just on my personal site" type situation. So to this end, I have registered the domain www.fieldsonline.com for us Fields researchers. Now that I have done this, the work will begin on the site. Its being hosted on a "free" host at the moment, and if it starts to grow further, I will find a larger host to go with (but this is a good place to start). Now for the part that includes all of you <grin> What I need from you guys is any gedcoms, pictures, family tree indexes etc that you would want to have posted on the site. My thoughts right now, is each person that sends in anything, will have their own click, so a person can browse through each one seperately. Also another thought was that we can have each persons "Fields" index, that a person can read down to see if any of those match. You can send anything you want included to [email protected] Hopefully this next week will slow down (its looking like it will) and I will get a chance to start work on this. Remember, the more people that give us information, the better for all of us! Lets make this the largest surname resource ever seen <big grin> Please send anything that you feel appropriate. Something you may think is nothing special, could be that missing link that a cousin needs. Ok, now back to your genealogy research! Noel

I am considering purchasing it, but my Fields have not been in this country for that long, they came over from England in the 1830's, so I'm not sure if this book will be helpful to me in my quest. I've been unable to locate a copy for interlibrary loan so have been unable to "demo" it. Fields is my maiden name so it would be a very worthwhile purchase for me if it applies to my family. My g grandparents - William Fields and Matilda Bolin or Bowling -----I'm searching for info on: ELIZABETH FIELDS born 1824 d/o ASA FIELDS and RACHEL SERJENT. Elizabeth Fields is in 1850 - 1860 and 1870 Breathitt Co. 1. [FIELDS-L] Fields, Charity
    2. Hi, I'm new to the list. My gg-grandmother was Charity FIELDS. Here is what I know about her: In the one census I found her (already married with children), it only said "from TN". She is buried in Smyrna Cemetery near Downsville LA, (this info from an e-mail I received and from 1980 issue of Northeastern Louisiana Genealogical Society Quarterly, which had a list of all who were buried in Smyrna Cem). Her gravestone apparently only reads "Charity Fields Ellis - Age 87". A copy of a lawsuit gotten from Farmerville LA Clerk of Court, dated Aug 1891, states that Charity ". . is very old and infirm, she was seventy nine years old last January", meaning she was born in 1812 and from gravestone saying died at 87, she died in 1900 or 1901 (in the computer program, a death date of 1901 makes her 88 years at death, so I put in 1900. She married my gg-grandfather, Benjamin C. ELLIS on an unknown date. They had 6 children: Joseph Graves (my g-grandfather) Martha A. John E. George H. James C. Phillie H. E. (The last two I only found out about with the list of those buried in Smyrna). I have no idea how to start looking for someone whose only origins are "from TN"!! Can anyone help? Thanks Francesca Sutton Austin TX
