Still hoping that someone on these lists will see something that they know one of our relatives: Arrived NY cc 1886-7 Thomas CONROY,b 1865 Mayo,son of Tho.Conry & Mary Costello, had a brother James who was still in Ireland in 1885.Believe they lived in Nympsfield, Cong, Mayo. This is on the River Corrib. Thomas married a Mary Flaherty/Faherty,daughter of Michael Flaherty & Nora Forde, who came to NY cc 1885 with all their children about 11 of them. They were from Annaghdown, Galway which is also on the southern part of the River Corrib about 10 miles from Thomas. Thomas & Mary married in Feb 1889 in Brooklyn by a priest at 1197 Classon av,Bklyn . Was there a church there? No one seems to know They stated their address on the marriage application as 136 Wallabout st and 433 Greene av.Yet neither are listed in the city directory. Their witness were her sister Margaret Flaherty & a Patrick Lyden Mary came from a large family and most of them works around the docks or ship yards. Her brothers were, Michael, John, Thomas (work in the navy yd, was a civil war vet) Andrew ( worked for the BLYN Union Gas) James, Patrick. Her sisters were Margaret, Honor, & Ellen. We know that Thomas Flaherty had 3 children ,wife Sadie, he died 1918, children Raymond, Thomas & his daughter. His brother Patrick died in 1942,wife Annie, Children is a ????. the brother Andrew kept the name as Faherty,and he married a Margaret McDonald and they had a daughter .
