    3. Hi, I have just bought the Tithe Defaulter's Index - Ireland - 1831 and found two of my ancestors. The indexes for Kilkenny and Tipperary have the largest number of defaulters. There are good representation for Limerick, Cork, Waterford, Louth and Wexford. Laois Meath Carlow Offaly Kerry have been combined. Each county includes: an introduction relating the history of the Tithe Defaulters, the Clergy Relief Act, the sworn Affidavits by the Clergy, and a comparison with the data from the 1831 census. The indexes provide the name, address and occupation and reference numbers to the original material. Although the Tithe Defaulters Index does not cover every county, it is a very useful research tool which, in view of the deficit of Irish material, will assist many thousands of local historians and genealogists.
