    3. I just received my Irish Roots magazine yesterday, and of course I have already read all of it. But I have encountered some very enthusiastic Irish family researchers who have not yet discovered it, so I thought it might me a good idea to share some thoughts, since I highly recommend it to any serious student of Irish genealogy. Irish Roots is a quarterly published in Cork by Belgrave Publications, Belgrave Avenue, Cork, Ireland and they have a webpage at <http://www.iol.ie/~irishrts/> They make it very easy for descendants of Irish immigrants to subscribe by taking our money in almost any form. (at IR & GB 7.00, A$17, Can$17, US$14) The publisher is Tony McCarthy, with whom you will be familiar, since he is the auther of "The Irish Roots Guide". This is no beginners' periodical. The articles have some real "meat" to them, but they are well-written and very readable. This issue (#25) has a jewel of an article by Judith Eccles Wight, A.G. "It is a lonesome thing to be away from Ireland always", about the Irish emigrants who went back home. This is a subject we haven't heard much about, but I am sure each of us have a few notes in our databases stating "He/she went back to Ireland". Ms Wight included a note at the end of the article encouraging those with data on Irish repatriates to contact her. Her e-mail address is jwirish@juno.com. It doesn't say so in the magazine, but those who have researched at the Family History Center in Salt Lake City may have met her there as she is a specialist in the British Isles Department. She included an excellent bibliography. The magazine has news on Irish Genealogy events worldwide, articles on the background of surnames, social history and an enjoyable Problem Page where advice is given on research problems. I really like this magazine, and I have no connection to them except as a happy subscriber who wants to share a fine discovery. And I'd like to thanks Eileen O'Duill at the Geneaological Office for telling me about it.
