Sunday, May 11, 2003 MCCOLE, RITA B., GAFFNEY, of Fairless Hills, PA, mother of six, entered in eternal rest on Saturday May 10, 2003. Born in Atlantic City, December 14, 1918, a daughter of the late John J. and Genevieve (nee: Clark) Gaffney; she was the last survivor of eight children. Her Great-grandparents, Luke and Catherine (nee: Henry) Gaffney left Ireland with three children and arrived in New York aboard the Clipper Emerald Isle on August 13, 1860; the family settled in Philadelphia before moving to Atlantic City, New Jersey in the early 1900s. Her grandfather Peter, and subsequently her father, operated the Chelsea Fish Market on Atlantic Avenue. In her teenage years she worked as a cashier in the market. A Great-grandfather, Philadelphia native John McGarrigel, served in Co. C, 20th Penna. Regt. (Volunteers) in the American Civil War. Survivors include daughters Barbara Murphy of Levittown and Rita McCole of Trenton; sons James Jr. of Las Cruces, New Mexico, William of Ambler, Dennis and Daniel, both of Levittown, fifteen grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Society of St. Vincent DePaul. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral mass as St. Michael the Archangel Church, Levittown Parkway, at 11 A.M. on Thursday. Friends may call Wednesday, evening from 7 to 9 P.M. and Thursday 9:15-10:15 A.M. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown. Interment will take place at the Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.
