My Grandfather Thomas GARVEY was born in Dublin in Merrion sqare in 1886. His mother Hannah GARVEY (nee FARRELL) was in service in the house as a housekeeper I believe. His father was Christopher T Garvey who owned a hansom cab also in Dublin. Christopher left Dublin at some point to look for gold in Alaska, with a friend, he did not return. His widow Hannah was told that he had been shot and killed in Alaska about 1904. Nothing was ever heard again about Christopher..Hannah and Thomas later moved to Liverpool England.
