My New York Dutch followed the Dutch naming tradition which if I recall is the reverse but it helped very much as I was able to predict the grand parents names from the childrens names. one family had 8 female children 6 Arrintje's that died young and an Arrientje and a Marientje that lived the other 4 children were males and all lived. Also I have a German family all males were Johannes and went by their middle names.
