I know an ancestor of mine was Alexander Gibson. He was born on the 12th August 1712. He went to America for a few years, returning to Ireland sell some land. However, the American Civil War broke out, and he stayed in Ireland, where he settled at Croneary, near Bawnboy Co. Cavan, where he died in 1801. What documents should I look up for further information? Does it seem likely that he resided in the Northern Counties, because his father was injured in the Siege of Londonderry. I am really lost.
