Joe, So far it's only PETTIS, but I've seen PETIS, PETYS, PETTUS, etc. I am stuck at the mid 1800's for now. I am looking for the church that married Benjamin and Eleanor to get records from that to get his father's name. I believe it was Thomas Pettis and as the research goes (I've swapped with a fourth cousin), she says he married Elisabeth Bosworth of the Mayflower Bosworth's. Must find him to find the connection so I'm still working. Please let me know if you find anything out. Desiree
