Thanks Joy At the risk of stretching your generosity I'd like to add a few thoughts and 'guesses' which might be helpful. 1. The family was most likely Landless & Illiterate. 2. The surname spelling is probably one of the 7 or so variations. [ there were literate Kerins in South Australia and I suspect the "Kerin " spelling may have been an administrative convenience. The family probably wouldn't know the difference !! ) But the first names would be accurate. 3. Patrick Thomas Kerin b abt 1845 and Elizabeth / Lisa Kerin b abt 1851 are certainly sister & brother and recently I found a highly likely additional sister Mary b abt 1847. I suspect there is more family somewhere. 4. I think they arrived in Australia in 1865 ... but I have no records for that. 5. Their father is recorded as Michael Kerin and mother as Mary / Maryann / Marion nee Magan / McGann / Maccann / McGuan Thanks for offering to help ... We plan to go to Ireland again but I need something tangible ! I am not sure if my Ellen Kerin had any brothers or sisters. I know from census records in Winterbourne Gloucestshire she was born in Clare. Can't be too many Kerins about? I am going to Ireland next month and will be hunting about for firstly a marriage record for John and Ellen Thyne, at least then I will have a fathers name. I have been hunting for years now for that infromation but perhaps I am getting closer. I will keep your family in mind when we are in Clare. Are you related to any O'Dea families that are in New Zealand? I believe there are some who attend the Irish Interest Group in Auckland? I will add your information to my collection and let you know if I can find anything that might look hopeful. I am not sure what I wrote on rootsweb now, will have a look later in the day and get back to you. Thanks again for your email, and I shall be in touch.
