I, too, am researching McCarty. My gg grandmother was Elizabeth McCarty. She was born in PA in 1859 to Mary and Charles McCarty. They were both born in Ireland, but I have not been able to track down the county as of yet. They arrived in the US prior to 1859. They had three children: Elizabeth and Mary are two for whom I have names. Elizabeth's husband--Stephen Boland--died at the age of 35, and within 10 years, she remarried. Elizabeth and Stephen had 8 children. If there seems to be a connection, let me know.
