Lynn, It is preferable if you know the townland rather than just the county unless your surname is an unusual one. I have asked your question on another list where I think someone will know the answer. I hope you don't mind. I didn't use your name of course. I just posted the inquiry using my own name. One possible way to do research is through the individual county heritage centers, but apparently the quality of research varies a great deal. Anyway you obviously have a name and just need the certificate so you might not need Co. Clare Heritage Center.
