What a wondrous group of gifts, Anne. Thank you so much. Your Holiday House is truly and beautiful and glorious site to see. How do you ever have time for it all? You've been an inspiration in your ability to juggle all of it. By the way, I didn't answer the questionnaire from the Irish Genealogy class. How does one download? I have so much to learn and I don't want to miss anything. Sometimes it's all so stressful. So many great things to create too. I'm looking forward to the Genealogy Certification. I'll have to see whether I can start in January, but my fella wants to. He's been researching for many years, but isn't as current on the computer or Internet. He wants to learn. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Fondest regards, Joanna ----------

This is a copy of a News Letter just released by The Doherty Clann Headquarters in Co. Donegal, Ire. O'DOCHARTAIGH "A GREAT NAME OF ULSTER" Hello Clann, November/December, 1997. "From Headquarters come greetings and best wishes for the Holiday Season. We wish you to be aware of crew and some of the happenings at your Headquarters on Inch Island, Co. Donegal. Ire. Our crew: Sean and Pat, full timers with Sean in charge of the building and grounds, while Pat is found in the computer room. Kathkeen Barr has been with us in a part time capacity for several years. She and two Weaver McDaids, Tina and Fiona, are our researchers and inputers in the large office. We have many Clann from all over the world who stay and assist us in many ways. We have thousands of visitors who stop for help with their genealogy, as we do all the names found in the Innishowen (Peninsula) Of course, we do Dohertys and O'Dohertys the wolrd around. We have the largest Data-Base of any Clann in Ireland. We are a Member of the Irish sponsored "CLANNS OF IRELAND". How can you fit into the picture? Has your genealogy been submitted to the Clann Office? You hear that we charge for this service. Come and have a look at our setup. It is expensive to purchase and operate. Patrick, our Clann Herald is on retirement and needs no salary. The others must be paid, at least a low wage. We used to do afternoon and evening events, but the entertainment room is now an Office. Why not stop in and have a look see when you are in the area! Our phone is 60488, call and arrange to see Pat. We love to have visitors." Ar nDutcas, O'Dochartaigh Crew. O'Dochartaigh Forever. THE RACE OF CONAILL This is not a mass mailing, tell others! Also note that a O'Dochartaigh Clann gathering is being organised for July 14 to 25, 2000. Salvation Begins A Christmas Reading by Barbara Ritchey In Heaven there is no morning or evening: no day or night; only the glory of God shining brightly at all times. It was into this brightness the Son stepped and approached His Father's throne. "Father the people of earth despair and cry out for their deliverance. Is it still not yet time?" A rumble seemed to come from the throne before the Creator answered, "The, time is come, but are You sure You still wish to do this for mankind?' "Yes Father, I desire to bring your people back to us." "You must forsake all Your glory and sleep In the womb of a a woman for nine months." "Yes, I know." "You will have to take on the burden of flesh and blood. You will be imprisoned in an earthly body that You will feel decaying around You, even at birth." "Yes, Father I understand." "You will know hunger and thirst. You will become one with sorrow and despair. You will experience pain and suffering." "Yes, Lord." "You will be tempted by the Evil One himself." "I do not fear him. I know that You will be my strength and comfort." A sigh slipped from Gods lips as He said, "You must take all the sins of mankind upon yourself. You will be betrayed, tortured and killed." "Father, the salvation of Your people demands all this. I am willing." The Almighty hesitated then said, "There will come a moment when You are covered in the sins of man that even I will have to turn away from You." The Son's resolve faltered. "Even You will forsake me, Father? Even You?" "Even I, my Son. I cannot bear to look upon such sin. Are You still willing to go?" The Son of God knelt before the throne in silence and looked down upon mankind. The chasm between the children of Adam and their Creator had never seemed wider. The Son shuddered in dread and asked. "Are You sure there is no other way to bring them back to us?" "There is no other way." The Son stood slowly and straightened his shoulders. Lifting His face to the throne, He answered, "Then I am here, Father. Send me." Gabriel was called to the throne and told to prepare the virgin for the miracle that was to come upon her. Michael was summoned to gather his troops. The Evil One would stop at nothing to prevent the birth or God's Son and the angels must protect the woman and her child. The Son of God bid farewell to His Father and the Holy descended to earth bearing the seed of God. Michael and his warriors battled the enemy's forces unceasingly as Gabriel prepared the angelic choir for the proclamation they were to deliver. In time God stretched forth His hand and a light appeared at the sky. A light brighter than any other shone joyously over a stable where a virgin was giving birth to a king. The angels suddenly grew quiet as the exuberant cry of a newborn baby echoed through the now silent halls of Heaven. With a shout of victory, the armies of God resumed their vigil of protection and the choirs sang their songs of good news. The salvation of man was at hand. But in the throne room of God, the Almighty listened silently to the rejoicing of men and of angels. A single tear formed in the eye of the Father and fell to the stair of the throne, leaving a crimson stain on its steps. "It has begun." He whispered. "My Son is born.' To all: As many of you know many have been trying to get a Commerative Stamp issued by the US Post Office in honor of the Irish Potato Famine and the Irish coming to America 150 years ago. So far all that the US Post Office had done is said that the event was unimportant and is issuing a "Tweety Bird" Stamp instead. I talked to ABC News and they said they had never heard of the issue. John Garcia told me that if I could prove that the US Post Office was refusing to issue such a stamp ABC would cover it. If you have received replies from the US Post Office on the stamp or have copies of articles appearing in Irish America magazine or other publications, please fax them to JOHN GARCIA 202 222 7684 or Mail them to: News Desk attn: John Garcia ABC News 1717 DeSales NW Washington, DC. 20036 or telephone him at 202 222 7777 Also write your congressman. Hi Tom, doing a search at www.yahoo.com (roscommon) I found: The Leitrim-Roscommon Bulletin Board: http://www.thecore.com/let_ros/lrboard/index.html where you can post your surnames and ask questions :-) Also, Roscommon has a webpage: http://www.mayo-ireland.ie/Geneal/Roscmmn.htm The Roscommon Public Library listed there seems to have a WEALTH of info! Their address is listed there. Seems they also have Parish records! Hi- I am interesred in taking the on-line classes for certification. Barbara stone@ct1.nai.net
Gee, someone has done a lot of research here! ;) Enjoy! Also, this is a TEST - if you were in class 33 and don't get two copies of this it means you're not on the FIANNA-L and won't get info from me once the new term starts! So, if you didn't get two copies, please...go sign up for the FIANNA-L this way: FIANNA-L-request@rootsweb.com message is just the word subscribe. No subject. turn of any automatic signature. The list is Fianna's way of communicating with former study group members. There is not a great deal of activity, it won't swamp your mailbox! And some of the nicest things come thru from time to time! :) Have a very merry holiday season.
