Dear List Members Someone accused Chirho of spamming when she recently posted a little humour to the list. I know everyone's sense of humour is a little different. Perhaps the person who complained about the spam just didn't get the Joke :-) (or has no sense of humour at all....??) A little laughter goes a long way on a stressful day. I have always enjoyed the funnies which have been posted here in the past. Mugs

Hello everyone, My Ireland from A-Z site has been updated throughout with new additions mainly to: Useful Addresses, Just for Irish Women and Books set in Irish Time. Stop by sometime! http://members.aol.com/Odea97/IRELANDGENEALOGY.html Good Luck in your research, Catherine
This is a response I received when asking for more information. I think it will clarify things a bit! **************************************************************************** ******** I didn't think I was going to get the response I did -- Thanks ! The Irish-Canada list will not be a mailing list. It will be a list. Here is part of the "What is the Irish-Canada List": "You and others can search the IRISH-CANADIAN LIST by surname, date, location in Ireland or Canada, and perhaps get a clue to further research. In contributing to the list, you should be prepared to share your genealogical information with others. Your address is given in the list so others can contact you directly." The Irish-Canada (probably will include Scottish as well) is for sharing information. I know this is redundant for some of you, if you have access to a web browser, please check out <http://www.bess.tcd.ie:80/roots/IRISHCAN.HTM>. This will be the format I'll be using. Here is a small sampling of the actual list: A sample entry: IMMIGRANT IRELAND DATE CANADA SUBMITTER --------- ------- ---- ------- --------- EDGE,Robert WIK,Cullenthra 1844 ONT,Grey Co. edge m.Mary Anne NEWZUM -Samuel -James -Lucy -Sarah submitter: edge kedge@utw.com/Karen Edge, 1243 E. Alameda Ave., Apt. 48, Salt Lake City, UT 84102 --- end of sample --- I will be creating a webpage to help facilitate submission to the list. If you do not have access to a web browser, that will be OK, you will be able to submit your information via email. The list will be ready for business 1 March 1998. If you have any questions, feel free to email me. Thank you for your support ! Hi Fennidi, As I told some of you last night Vickie Lindsay is thinking of starting up up the Irish Canadian list again. I have pasted the msg she posted to the Irish lists below. This is about all I know about it. You will have to contact Vickie for further information. Gail aka Iigfennid III aka possum All, I'm thinking of starting the Irish-Canada list up again or something similar. If you would be interested, please email me directly. Having the subject line of IRISH-CANADA LIST would be a big help for me. The Irish-Canada list would be a compilation of immigrants from Ireland to Canada. Where would the information come from? It would come from people submitting information (similar to the RSL and RLL). The Irish-Canada list became inactive in 1995. If there is already a list dedicated to this, please let me know this as well. Please email me personally, as I do not read all of these mailing lists on a regular basis. Thank you, Vicki Lindsay <mailto:chance@eskimo.com

This is my first post and attempt at tracing my ancestors. I am looking for information regarding Patrick McNelis and Sarah Gillespie who were probably from southwest Donegal, probably Kilcar. They lived in Wilkes Barre, PA around 1895 and had at least one son, Patrick, born that year. I am also trying to secure information on John Lane and Helen Farley of New Jersey who gave birth to Catherine in 1900. Any help will be appreciated.

Is anyone related to Mark Anthony Stokes and his wife Ellen (surname unknown)? They came from the town of Milford near Cork. Mark was a corn merchant. By 1859 Mark was living in Cork city but Ellen had died. It seems many of their children came to Australia in 1840s/1850s- Anthony (born 1833), Benjamin (born 1842), and a daughter Colleen arrived in 1848 with a tribe of siblings - Maurice, Bridget, John, Catherine & Patrick. Seeking information on Mark & Ellen and whether any of their children remained in Ireland. Many thanks. Valerie Australia
Is anyone related to Joseph McGrade who married (date unknown) Celia McIlroy/McElroy (spelling varies). They had a son, Bernard (born Tyrone) about 1822 who married Margaret McGinn about 1847 in Ireland. Bernard & Margaret had two children Mary Jane & Bernard and the four of them came to Australia. Seeking more information on the McGrade, McIlroy and McGinn families in Ireland. Any help is appreciated. Valerie Australia
