Our Conroy/Conry believe to have come to Brooklyn,NY cc 1887 Thomas (Dennis) Conroy, b 1865 to Tho,Conry & Mary Costello in Cty Mayo Michael Joseph Conroy b cc 1865 where to who?????? Flaherty/Faherty & Forde Our Flaherty family came to Bklyn , NY in 1887, oldest daughter Mary b 1862 is my g.mother, born to Michael Flaherty/Faherty & Nora Forde in Annaghdown, Galway as is her other siblings. The entire family came to NY. Mary married Thomas Conroy Feb 24, 1889 in Bklyn, NY , would like to know what church . Trying to learn if Thomas did died in 1901 after fathering 7 children or go off with someone else. No death certificate as yet. One of Mary's siblings were Andrew Faherty who resided at 207 Moffat st, Bklyn, wife named Margaret, maiden name probably McDonald, had a sister Helen. In 1920 Helen their mother and what appears to be a child called Eleanor of 8 , parents were Andrew & Margaret all lived at this address. I only saw Andrew once or twice in my life time, never knew he had any children, this was a suprise to me,but then again learning that my father was one of 7 and not one of 2 in the recent years, nothing will suprise me now. Would like to find what the maiden name was for Nora Forde's mother, where many of this family now are, how is John Collins related to me and what happened to all my g,mother's siblings. Did my g.father come from Mayo, is he the one from Cong, did he died on the docks in an accident or run off? These are my gmothers siblings: Micheal, John, Margaret,Honor, Thomas, Patrick, Andrew, James, & Ellen. These are my father's siblings: Mary, Thomas, Nora,Annie, Margaret, Joseph. My father was Michael, Annie and Joseph died as children, have a feeling that Mary did also. Michael, Nora,Margaret & Joseph spent time in a home from 1905 May to 1907 June due to the suppose death of their father, this is where Joseph died within 3 months of being there. Anyone that can shed light on this family, please do Thanks Ed Conroy
Searching for the following people who are all related; Sons of PATRICK & ANNIE FAHERTY, James born around 1923 probably in Bklyn, and his brother Merlin born around 1924. Last know address was 245 Wilson av. Patrick was my g.mother's brother. He is buried in Holy Cross. Sons & daughter or their descendants, of Thomas Faherty & Sadie Shields, children Thomas b cc 1905, Raymond cc 1908 & Eleanor cc 1912. Thomas died in Bklyn in 1918, he worked the ship yd, lived on Woodbine st in 1918, buried in Holy Cross. Wife Sadie lived at 41-14 73 st, Jackson Hgts, when she died in 1946, Her daughter Eleanor McMullen is listed on her death certificate. In 1930 Raymond worked for an electric co. and Eleanor worked for an insurance co. Thomas is also my g.mother's brother. Would like to hear from any relative of the above. I am Mary Faherty Conroy's last living g.son. Mary's parents were Michael Faherty/Flaherty & Nora Ford/e from Galway and in 1901 they lived at 524 Marcy av.where Nora died. Michael died in 1911. Andrew Faherty believe died in the 1960's wife was Margaret, her mother's name was McDonald, she, Margaret had a daughter Eleanor age 8 in the 1920 census. Andrew worked for the Bklyn Union Gas Co. now called Keyspan. Margaret also had a sister Helen O'Brien and they lived at 207 Moffat. I last saw Andrew when I married in 1950. Anyone with any info on any of these people would enjoy hearing from you. Thanks Ed Conroy

Could they have lived someplace other than Brooklyn?? The results are below. NOTE: The ones with no roll numbers, also had no images 'attached'. But, with the year, state, county, township, ED and page#, you should be able to find any that look interesting on microfilm. Some of the microfilm for 1930 was BAD. Hoping that maybe by this St PATRICK'S day I might be successful in learning a little about my MYSTERIOUS G. Father, Thomas CONROY/CONRY born in 1865 in Ireland to Thomas Conroy/Conry & Mary COSTELLO. We think he is from Mayo, The heritage ctr says that they only have one family with this name, Costello & Conry, who have a son Thomas born in 1865, in Cong. How can I prove this is ours? Thomas jr came to NY cc 1887 and in 1889 Feb married Mary Flaherty/Faherty in Brooklyn, she came from Annaghdown, Galway which is also on the Corrib River, 10 miles South of where the above Thomas is from. Did they know one another in Ireland ? Her family came in 1887, large group, it seems most of them worked the docks or ship yards. Thomas worked the docks also, he is said to have been killed there in 1901. Mary is listed as a widow in the 1901 Bklyn directory at one of the address we have. 13 State st. There is no death certificate that we can obtain as he is said to have drowned and never found. How can we solve any of these problems? This is our BRICKWALL. I am the oldest & only living grandson, the younger generation of 2d cousins seem to know next to nothing. Thanks to all Ed Conroy
Is there a new email address for the Fianna Page? Their account is over quota and I want to make some submissions. Nancy
GRO will accept personal checks/bank drafts, International Money Orders and Irish Postal Orders denominated in € drawn on a branch of a bank located in the Republic of Ireland and be acceptable for clearance through the Irish check clearing system. Since the changeover to the € in January 2002 and now with the introduction of a credit card facility, the historical reasons for the practice in this office of accepting payments in £ and U.S.dollars (i.e. the difficulty and expense of obtaining checks denominated in Irish punts in the U.K., the U.S.A. and elsewhere) no longer prevail. From the 8th October 2002 GRO will accept credit/debit card payments in the following manner: In person at our public counters on the 1st floor of our office in Joyce House. By post to General Register Office, Joyce House, 8/11 Lombard Street, Dublin 2. By fax @ +353-1-6354527. GRO will accept Mastercard and Visa credit cards. It should be noted that applications paid by credit card will not be expedited or treated any differently from applications using other payment methods. (Note: I do not see any indication that there will be an additional charge for using a credit card.) New application forms (which contain a provision for the inclusion of credit card details) for Birth/Death/Marriage Certificates, designed for the ongoing computerization/modernization program are posted on the Apply for a Cert page of this website [http://www.groireland.ie/fees.htm] These forms can be downloaded and then submitted to this office by post or fax. I have just updated the Ireland Parish History Books website at the url below my name. At my home page, go to Ireland and click on Ireland Book. At the bottom of the Ireland Book Discussion website there is a link for the Parish History page. There are now 270 books listed for all 32 counties of Ireland, many with lookup volunteers. If you know of a book that is not listed, please use the convenient but temperamental form at the bottom of the page. (Sometimes you have to click it twice for it to work but you will get a conformation that it was sent when you are successful.) -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com All outgoing mail virus free, scanned by Norton 2002
