    3. Hi Laura: Thanks for the Cooney line. It was a long shot, but I don't think we have a connection. My Coomey clan emigrated to Mass. (another NY State), and the only male in my direct line born in USA was my father, William Patrick Coomey. I appreciate your sharing. Ruth wkbw98e@prodigy.com

    2. Patricia Brown
    3. I am searching for birth and marriage details about Catherine SINNETT who was born in Arklow, Co Wicklow c 1795 but probaly married in Co Cork somewhere to someone SHINNICK. She emigrated in 1841 to Australia as a widow with her two sons Michael George b 1820 and John James b 1825. Also would someone please comment on the movement of people from Wicklow to Cork following/during the 1798 rebellion. I have noted a few military SINNOTTs in the Cork and Wicklow records while her grandson, my great grandfather, was somewhat absorbed with army matters in Australia and eventually became a sergeant major in the S.A. Volunteer Army in the 1880s. Regards Patricia ... BEAN BELLAMY BOURNE KELLY LYCETT O'CONNOR SAMPSON SHINNICK SINNOTT ___ Blue Wave/386 v2.30 [NR]

    1. [FIANNA-L] Invitation to join a new mailing list
    2. Kathleen King Moffett
    3. Hi fellow genealogy buffs, Laura Schmidt has graciously given me permission to announce here on Fianna-L the formation of a new mailing list called Irish-Kings. It is intended to be a focussed list made up of those persons researching the KING surname who already know that their ancestors originated in Ireland. It is quite small at the moment, and will probably always be a low-traffic list, but it is hoped that it will become a good resource. Irish-Kings is a private, semi-moderated list. What this means is that subscribers will be approved by the listowner (me!) before confirmation of subscription. Not to worry...this is just a safeguard to keep out spammers. Semi-moderated means that I reserve the right to step in, for example, to stop egregious flaming, etc. However, I don't intend to hover over the list like a mother hen; I want it to be "our" list. If you'd like to subscribe, send an email w/ no subject and no content to: irish-kings-subscribe@makelist.com You will receive an "official" invitation to join shortly thereafter....just hit "reply" and send it off (it'll automatically have the correct address, etc.), and you'll then receive confirmation of yr subscription which will contain all the info you'll need to post to the list, read the archives (when we have some, LOL), unsubscribe, etc. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope you can join us! God bless, Kathleen Kathleen King Moffett kkmoffett@bigfoot.com http://members.xoom.com/CathGrrl/index.htm

    1. [FIANNA-L] Methodists in County Wexford
    2. Looking for some help on churches in County Wexford----- this one near Hardyglass between Tacumshin Lake & Lady's Island Lake, between Muckstown and Tacumshane. Since my relatives [HARRISON's] were Methodists here in the USA, I'm presuming their ancestors were also Methodists in County Wexford. My question: Is there a Methodist Church in this area? If so, does anyone have the name of the church and how I might contact them? If not Methodist, might they have been of another Protestant denomination in Ireland and changed in the USA? Obviously, I'm having a hard time figuring this out, so anyone that can shed any light on it for me will be most appreciated. Many thanks. /S/ Jim Carey, Washington, DC

Naturalizations in the American and West Indies Colonies The Lords Commissioners for Trade and Plantation established the act for naturalization in the American and West Indian colonies in 1740. Pursuant to that act, commissioners in the Americas sent records back to England detailing those foreign Protestants who were naturalized in the colonies. This collection of those naturalization records contains important information from 1740 until about 1782, when the commission was dissolved. Divided by location, names of naturalized persons are given. Although designed just to record Protestants, New York lists also include some Jews and Quakers. Some states' records are more complete than others, New York being thought most inclusive while Virginia is thought least comprehensive. This database is from M. S. Guiseppi, ed., Naturalizations of Foreign Protestants in the American and West Indian Colonies (London: Huguenot Society Publishing, 1921).
