Hi: I saw your reference to the name Stack (Stackpoole). I don't know if this will help you, but one of my ancestors had a Barth Stacpoole as one of the sponsors at his baptism in St. Munchin's Parish, Limerick City. Thomas Moloney, b. 6 Mar 1862 - sponsors: Barth Stacpoole & Mary Anne Moloney. Hope you can make a connection. Ruth Hakala wkbw98e@prodigy.com
Dear Mike - have been collecting info on sheedy's for 10 years - just about to put up a website on same.. basically 6 bros where transported to NSW 1803 - 1830 for their involvment in the Robert Emmett rebellion and subsequent skirmishes. Sheedys where still involved in same in the Black and Tan war.. The Sheedys often used the alias McNamara or interchanged thier name.. The Sheedys where originally aligned to the McNamara clan.. The Sheedys kept a diary of the United Irishment here in Australia,,, Their families where not allowed to join them as they where exiled but some of the children where sent out for political crimes also.. I am always interested in the fenians...Or Pat Sheedy was supposedly a White Boy - he was arrested at OBriends Bridge in 1845 for attempting to shoot a party of policemen. He was sent to Tasmania for 15 years in 1845 but escaped after 5 years. We have "lost" him from 1851 1854 when he got himself arrested at the Eureka Stockade rebellion - and then hightailed it to the coast of Victoria where he settled as a farmer. I believe he had assistance to escape out of tasmania - the last visit he had to a man called Waycroft or Waycroft or similar just a month before escaping - I have found another absconder also visited this man before "leaving" - and this was around the same era as the young Irelanders. There was a newspaper editor here in Port Fairy in the 1850's who was involved in the YYoung Irelanders... could go on for ever - have no doubt the Sheedy's where continually involved in political upheavals - just they are very elusive to track yours Jenny Fawcett At 07:43 AM 6/22/98 -0500, you wrote: >At 07:57 PM 6/21/98 +1000, you wrote: >>Hey Mike - got any Sheedy's in them Fenians of yours??We have got some in >>the United Irishmen..... >>Jenny Fawcett > >Jenny >Didn't find any in the books I have. Hi; Anyone with Griffith's Valuation would you please do a look up for me? Lipsett, Ballyshannon, Donegal, 1835-1850. Thank you Tonya
Does anyone have easy access to the Civil Registration of Deaths for Ireland? I am looking for the deaths of John Hare and Mary Ann Hare[maiden name Marshall]. These deaths would probably be between 1864 and 1866, in Ballymore,Armagh. My grandfather Samuel Hare arrived in Canada about 1866 at the age of 10 and I have not been able to find what happened to his parents. Of course they may have died on the voyage over. I would appreciate any help that could be given. Our FHC does not have these in,but if necessary I will order them. Thank you for all the guidance that is supplied on this list. It is certainly appreciated. Regards Beth Speicher in Ontario speicher@bmts.com

It is a Directory of URLs on which a Cemetery Register has been made and posted as an aid to genealogist looking for the names of their ancestors on the gravestones. If there IS such a website, I am working on a Register for a Cemetery and would like to link to it when I get it finished. If there is NOT such a place....... well,,,, I guess I will just have to MAKE one, huh! <smile> > >THANKS! >tex From #GenealogyForum IRC Channel on Afternet: WE HAVE A NEW HOME ON THE WEB! http://www.rare.on.ca/users/genealogyforum/index.htm Contains Surnames of Visitors and Simple instructions for joining us. ***** New INBOUND Email is gen-4m@rare.on.ca (It eats Spam for Lunch!) <smile>
Hi! To all of you who use "pretty white backgrounds or nice bold fonts" looks like your mail will be rejected by RootsWeb within the week. I have been in contact with Tim (the RootsWeb guru) this weekend and he is scrambling to fix the problem. See not everyone gets the rich HTML text as you see it. Some folks get it as a scrambled downloadable file, others get it as a horrible red background. Also to those of you who send attachments to the list, they will be rejected also! All of these types of messages are hard on the RootsWeb equipment, take more space on archives, take longer to send and are a pain to RootsWeb in general. My advice to you is to make certain that every letter you send to a mailing list is in "plain text"! If you don't know how to achieve this, please take a visit to: http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/listowners/html-off.htm Sorry for the repeat warning, we have very few offenders, but figured you would all like to know! When this happens, more than likely some folks are going to be upset that their posts did not make it to the list, or that this list maintainer converted it to plain text and forwarded it with a note that said originally sent by "members address" in illegal format. Hi: Are there printed copies of the U.S.Census records? Otherwise you would have to own or have ready access to a reader in your home (or a lap-top computer at the archives). Let me know, please. Ruth Hakala wkbw98e@prodigy.com
Hi: I have a family member of my grandfather, whose was baptized "Peter" but he went by the name "Pierce" . Even my aunt, who knew him, didn't know his given name was Peter. Hope this helps. Ruth Hakala
If you live near a Family History Center (Mormon Church) you can rent and read films there. Large libraries also have readers as well as films you can use at no charge. The FHC in my town charges $3.25 to rent a film for a month. Hope this helps. Rose
The San Diego Genealogical Society has transcribed the 1870 US Census for SD County. Other local societies have probably done the same. Some people have purchased microfilm readers and rented microfilm from AGLL, a commercial business. Ellen
