    3. Hello List: This is my first post. I am looking for information on the ancestors of SAMUEL FAWLS BROWN. He was born in FERMANAGH County in 1801 according to my information. He married a Catherine FRASER, born abt 1800 in CAVAN County in 1830 and they both died in Kent County, New Brunswick in (he) 1889 and (she) 1886. They came to Canada between 1844 and 1848 but we don't know how. Can anybody help with any information on how, when, from where, or who their parents were? All help will be gratefully received. 1. Townland Maps
    2. Paul
    3. Please pardon the multiple posts, but I have a search requirement that seems to cross the Cavan/Meath county line. I'm researching Mary McGaughran. Family history has her born in 1835, in Oldcastle, County Meath. A search of Griffiths (1848-1864) shows no McGaughran in that townland, but a cashe of them in Cavan (Kilmore, Ballintemple and Scrabby Civil Parish.) I have no record of the townland, for the Griffith findings. So, I'm thinking that perhaps civil parish lines changes between 1835 and 1848/1864 (I don't know the exact years of the Cavan/Meath valuation), family history is just plain wrong, being Catholic Oldcastle was where she worshipped/has BDM info or she has some other reason for the claim. Further, I have no idea if the family history refers to Oldcastle Town or civil parish. In other words, I have no clue. Does someone out there have: - Historical info on border changes? - Detail maps, including townland and Catholic church locations for the civil parishes sited? - Maybe some other suggestion? Thanx, Paul

    2. For many years, I've assumed that my surname was English. However, any time I tried to follow a search lead, I've always hit a dead-end in the 1600's. The other day I discovered that my name is a derivitive of "O'Baetheghaile". Can you tell me the meaning of the Irish name? Thanks...tombeatley@aol.com
