Dear List Members, My ancestors came to Australia in 1857 on the emmigrant ship "Mary Ann". Does anybody have any ideas as to where I may be able to obtain details of this particular ship. Regards and thanks in anticipation, Frank Neeson, Melbourne, Australia
I, like the little girl was thrilled to fine my family history, names and dates in several well known family history books including the DAR. In my first search on this surname on FamilySearch I came up with the same information and another that doesn't look like it is correct. All of this erroneous information came years ago from one well intentioned lady who thought she had found the correct information and shared it. Only it turned out to be two men with the same name. Now it's on FamilySearch. Family Search is a wonderful tool and we are all thrilled to have all the help we can get. It's up to us to document what we find anywhere. Loudene Kirk Tollar
Thought I would tell you all a new genealogy story. There was once a young girl who just started in genealogy. She was 13 and had been doing research back and forth for a couple of years. She found a query in a "Genealogical Helper" that had been placed a couple years before. It said her family ancestor's name and his wife's first name (but the last name was wrong). She decided to write this lady who had written the query. The lady wrote back that she indeed was her cousin, but she had found her information, and the girl could have "Happy Hunting" . She never answered any of the girls letters again. Well this girl searched for many many years (30 plus) until Thursday she was playing with http://www.familysearch.org . She put in her ancestors name (first and last) and his wife's first name. Wow she had a hit! The lineage back to the 100's (that is one hundreds) was there with hundreds and hundreds of more grandparents and aunts and uncles. The family stories of royalty proved true many times over! Now she has to go and PROVE all this research, but she does have the submitters' information and hopefully one of the submitters will help. The stories of being related to Mary Queen of Scots proved true along with many other Kings of Scotland, Norway, Finland and the monarchy of the British Isles. If any of you haven't tried this site it is a must do! Laura
Beware of the info. Much of it is wrong. I've got some of the same connections and had to make hundreds of corrections. Jim Morgan Salt Lake City
County Antrim Chancery Assizes Court Records 1717-1772 - is there any further known records where one might go forward with any of the people listed on this record and find what happened to them or who their family was? On the 1796 Irish Flax growers list, using the ID number can any other information be obtained? Loudene Kirk Tollar Houston.
In researching my gg-grandparents I discovered on two different census's that one of their daughters was listed as being born in Iowa. The rest of the children were born in Wisconsin. It's possible that they may have been in Iowa briefly or maybe the child is not their's. Any suggestions on how I could solve this mystery? She was born in 1866. Are there any genealogy help sites for Iowa? Any input would be appreciated. Colleen

Lots of people overlook the wealth of information that your own public library can provide for you. All librarys have a reference desk and they have the set of books called "The Gales Directory". In that book (set of 3) you can get the address of every publication (magazine , newspaper, guides, freebie papers etc.) in the U.S. They will give you any information you need about that publication including what market it is directed to. My own library knows me on a first name basis because of all the questions that I ask. {i.e.- Do you have the address to the National Potatoe Council?.... how many manufacturers of body bags are there in the U.S?.... You get the idea....ANY question, and they can find the answer for you, usually within minutes. Have fun, I give my library a true work out! Leslie
Ancestry.com has offered the following for free lookups, when I get there it asks for a password. Does anyone know of a library, or of anyone that would be willing to look up an obituary for me? I have a Thomas WABOLIS (d) 1983 and his wife Frieda A. WABOLIS (d) October 1995, both in Dobbs Ferry, NY. I am at a standstill with this line and have been looking for an obituary, or for an address to write for an obituary for quite some time now but with no luck! I'd appreciate any assistance that anyone can forward to me! Des

Dear Frank Pennsylvania didn't have mandatory birth registration until 1906. Some counties have the info before that in their courthouses. The Dept of Vital Statistics is on South Mercer St in New Castle, Pa. 16101 for births after that. Hope this helps you. Ann from New Castle Pa.
