For genealogists unfamiliar with the towns and parishes of Ireland, research into the lives of these ancestors can be a tedious search through endless maps and atlases. This database contains a gazetteer of the island nation and a surname guide intended to help researchers in their study. The gazetteer contains over 1800 locales and provides the county in which it is located. The surname guide includes information on the most common Irish surnames. For researchers of Irish ancestry, this database can be a great aid in locating important information. Bibliography: Platt, Lyman. "Gazetteer of Ireland." Orem, UT: Ancestry, Inc., 1999. 3. Message to Gus and Frank Neeson: UK listings ARE on line. I used them. I had contacted a person with a last name the same as someone I have been looking for for 10 years, alas they were not the same person, but she gave me the address for looking it up. I looked, I found, I can't remember the address. I will try to backtrack for you Frank and locate it by someother means, but it is there! 1. [FIANNA-L] Hyland Help
    2. Sharon Goetz
    3. I am looking for a James Hyland born in the 1750's possibly somewhere in Ireland, but migrated to America prior to 1788. I have him in 1788 in Kent County, MD. He had a son, Henry Miles Hyland, (1796-1851) who married a Mary Maria Grant in 1820 in Kent County, MD. My grandmother only told us that her Hyland family was Irish so I don't know where they came from. I feel that Henry Miles Hyland may have been named (Miles) after a grandparent. James Hyland 1750's-1832 was a blacksmith and I feel also that maybe he was transported to US and indentured himself out to learn the blacksmith trade and passage. I have not found any ships passenger list showing him coming to US. I can not find any church records showing a birth or baptism of a James Hyland born about this time span so I think he was probably born somewhere in Ireland. I did find a James Hyland (22) who was transported and served 4 years to a Nicholas Painter of AA Co. in 1684, much too old to be the James Hyland I am looking for. (from Middlesex Qtr. Sessions) I can't find out what even happened to this James Hyland after his 4 years was served, maybe he returned to Ireland or maybe he married and started a family in the US, but I can not find any information on him. I have been working on this family for 3 years and keep coming to a brick wall. I have researched all the Hyland families up and down the east coast of US and can not find any connection to any of the families, which is why I believe that he was born outside of the US. Any help with will be most appreciated. Thank you so very much. Sharon Goetz [email protected] ch. Sharon Goetz [email protected] =20
