There is so much information there that I'm sure I'll be visiting it daily for weeks to come. Thanks to all the good people who have put so much time and effort into putting these links and data online. Marybeth C. northeast Ohio acmbjc@aol.com
County Longford Residents Prior to the Famine: A Transcription and Complete Index of the Tithe Applotment Books of County Longford, Ireland (1823 - 1835) by Guy A. Rymsza allows millions of people of Irish descent around the world to break through their "brick wall" for the first time. It is the first comprehensive analysis of the Tithe Applotment Books available for any county in Ireland, complete with maps of each civil parish and its townlands, microfilm reel directory, and bibliography. Beautifully presented and thoroughly researched, this index of a vital pre-Famine Irish census substitute has been hailed by Ireland's foremost genealogist John Grenham, recommended for all Irish genealogy collections, and called "a model for all future work on the Tithe Books ... and indeed for any other genealogical product of a similar nature." Featured in Heritage Quest Magazine, Irish Roots, and Family Chronicle, Rymsza's 439-page hardbound volume (US$49.95), CD-ROM (US$39.95) and economical digital download editions are available from Dome Shadow Press. Hi Jerome, I feel the same way. Delighted to take advantage of the 14 day free trial, but very wary about giving credit card number. NOT a good idea! Hi I haver been trying for some time to further findings of my family history. I have the 1827 tithing record of my GGparents families, McDermott's and Flannelly's, in the Townland of Caheredmond, Parish of Ballinrobe, County Mayo, Ireland. I have tried to get more info on the families, but have been unsuccessful. Can anyone tell me if the titled owners of the land in question, keep or kept records of their tenants in the early 1800's, and if so are they available for researching purposes? My ggparents, Patrick McDermott and Bridget Flannelly, both circa 1813, left Ireland with two children in the 1843-45 period and emmigrated to Canada, where their third child was born in July of 1845. I have not been able to find their marriage or children's birth records. I have all of the family history from 1845 forward in Canada and the USA. Can anyone help me? Thank You Jerome J. McDermott
