Ferris, 84, of Sioux City died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Nativity Catholic Church, with the Revs. Paul-Louis Arts and Dan Greving, both of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Rev. Tim Johnson and Monsignor Frank Brady officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Mornigside Chapel. Mr. Ferris was born Oct. 19, 1915, in Omaha, the son of William and Janna (Monsour) Ferris. He was raised in Omaha and graduated from Omaha Tech High School. He married Genevieve "Jean" Nasser on Sept. 9, 1940, in Sioux City. The couple lived in Omaha for five years before moving to Sioux City in 1949. He was employed in sales until 1965. They then owned and operated Peter's Park Pantry for 11 years. He then was employed as a marketing director with WACO until retiring in 1983. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where he served in many capacities and on many committees. He was a former president of Morningside Commerical Club and a former member of Knights of Columbus and Noon Sertoma Club. He was the founding Sioux City director of fund raising for the St. Jude's Childrens Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., and organized the Sioux City Chapter of ALSAC. Survivors include his wife; two daughters and their husbands, Elaine and Denny Huss of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Bobbi and Bob Rehal of Sioux City; two sons and their wives, Rick and Julie and Dave and Suzi, all of Sioux City; 16 grandchildren, Mike, Steve, Joe and B.J. Huss, Rob, Dan, Cheri and Missi Rehal, Adam, Aryan, Christy, Jenny, Kelly and Jody Ferris, Suzi Koemptgen and Debi Marzen; and nine great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Michael, Steven, Joseph and B.J. Huss, Rob and Daniel Rehal and Adam Ferris. Memorials may be directed to Immaculate Conception School Building Fund.
