    2. Thanks, Viola. Unfortunately Catherine was too old for Civil Registration. She was born Maguire about 1831 and married Thomas McQuaid on November 15, 1851 in the parish of Enniskillen. She was my link to Fermanagh in the first place about 10 years ago. Thomas was in the army, their first child was born in Gibraltar and their second child (who died in infancy) was born on the boat to England. The other 2 daughters were born in Middlesbrough. Catherine's sister Bridget "McQuire" married Owen McManus in 1853 in Middlesbrough or Stockton (registration district for Middlesbrough) and listed her father as Thomas, a labourer. My Snows had a number of cousins named "McGuire" (English spelling) and I suspect that my ggg-grandmother Alice (born in the 1790's) was a Maguire. Search irishgenealogy.ie for her birth which should give (a) the address where she was born. (b) her mother's former name. Searching for the Surname only can sometimes uncover other information or siblings. Only snag may be that RC Civil Registration did not start until c1864. You just might be lucky and find her and siblings. Good hunting. That Enniskillen could mean the Union of Enniskillen, formed c1840 and which took in c360 square miles and a number of. Parishes. 3. Sheila, Beginning to think that your ancestors and I have trod the same paths. Gibraltar is a beautiful place. Was there in 1976 and had to smile when the only Grass to be seen was at the Govenor's Palace, and that was plastic. My late Daughter, who was in the RAF and stationed there had her 21st Birthday Doo on The Rock. BTW Most of the SNOW ( Tully, Cornahiltha etc) BMDs I've found recorded in Ballyshannon (Donegal). DUFFY and DOLAN as well which I've sent them to Dee. So search Ballyshannon and Fermanagh for your's. 3. Hi Viola I've visited the Rock a few times and had some great laughs with the apes . First time we experienced them we could not believe their antics. I've been told that things are changed now and you are not allowed to feed them or anything. It ended up they would not eat their food {fruit and veg} They only wanted sweets and biscuits} The crazy names of the places as well. "Nelson's Ash Bucket" etc. I might have made that one up, but again maybe not! My father told me that during war 2, when they were evacuated ,they were put in a camp outside Londonderry. The locals refered to them as "The Gibs" best wishes Robert Sent from Outlook<http://aka.ms/weboutlook> ________________________________ From: Viola Wiggins <vmaw3434@gmail.com> Sent: 01 June 2018 17:04 To: This list is for those researching their ancestors in Fermanagh and surrounding counties in Ireland Subject: FERMANAGH-GOLD -Re: Gibraltar Sheila, Beginning to think that your ancestors and I have trod the same paths.
