    3. Hi all new to the list Following an Australian WW 1 soldier, Harry Lowry MOFFITT was born 1883 Victoria Australia and died 19 July 1916 at Fromelles. He is fairly certainly one of the 250 soldiers found in a mass grave in France in 2008. Harry was in the 53rd Battalion. Australian Imperial Forces AIF.. We are trying to find Moffitt relatives in Ireland who might ultimately help us identify Harry. His parents were George Lowry Moffitt b 4 July 1847 Eniskillen, Fermanagh and Rebecca MINNS from England. They married in Australia George is the son of Rev James MOFFITT, (Methodist) and Mary LOWRY abt 1810 to 9 Oct 1847. There are no surviving male MOFFITT lines in Australia. The grandfather James Moffitt, died 5 Jan 1877 at Knocks, Fermanagh. He was probably born abt 1807 What we need to know is about James Moffitt. Would his death or marriage show his parents? We feel the only viable line we will find, will be with any brothers of James. I would be most grateful for any advice and we would like to know if it is possible to find this type of certificate information. We may be able to hire a genealogist or pay for research done if that is the way to go. kind regards Marg O'Leary Fromelles Association (see Facebook or web page for Fromelles Project) Port Stephens NSW
