    3. Thanks Dave. My interest is in Robert Weir (senior) of Glasmullagh (near Lack), who died in 1890 aged 90. He is the one for whom I have no birth or marriage records, and no clue where to look next. I do have a death certificate for him, and thus assume his birth year is about 1800. My apologies if that wasn't clear - I was trying to provide a complete background picture and so also included what I know about his children, in case this family was familiar to members of the FG list. My interest is in finding out who his parents were, or siblings, if possible. I have searched the parish registers that are available online, and have seen mention of Robert in his children's baptism listings, in Griffiths records and so on. However, the stumbling block is taking the research back beyond his birth. The links you found for me look very interesting - thank you. I'll look at these to see if I can find that other Robert (Robert senior's son) whose fate is another question mark. Regards Rose O'Neale (This is a repost, as my earlier one didn't seem to go through) Sent from my iPad

I know how difficult it is trying to put the likes of your post together so it can be understood by the reader.... You've included a lot, done quite a bit of research etc... it's just what to look for I'm trying to figure out.. IF you guesstimate Robert's father being 25 y.o. in 1800.. son lived to 90 it's possible father lived to a good age..so any Wills?? For Ruth.. what are you looking for? years? I can't see original post but do you know when Robert married? Possible Lease on property around then! As Robert was born c.1800 he might be 1st born, 2nd etc but his father must have married a year or more before 1800 and quite possibly took a lease after marrying, was it registered in Wills/deeds? Some became Methodist.. I only did 'Fermanagh born' 'c of I' ones one Census so might be worth checking Methodist ones too Plus who would have been 70 in early 1900's and did they apply for Pension?? Even those who left Ireland could apply. You've Wills on PRONI.. BUT the Census site has the Pension applications (some for Fermanagh!) and Wills too, the problem there is they are listed where they died!! So if a Fermanagh person died in Dublin he's there under Dublin...

    3. I am wondering if your Robert Weir might be a cousin to my Robert Weir, born in County Fermanagh in 1787, died in 1878 in Otonabee, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. Married Catherine Graham. They immigrated about 1822. I think it's an Irish tradition to use family names, so??? Could be related, perhaps. - Karen Sent from my iPhone > On Apr 19, 2015, at 4:00 AM, "Rosalie O'Neale via" <fermanagh-gold@rootsweb.com> wrote: > > Thanks Dave. > > My interest is in Robert Weir (senior) of Glasmullagh (near Lack), who > died in 1890 aged 90.
