    3. Best birthday wishes Vi. But I would like to share a personal experience about drinking and driving. As you know, some of us have been known to have brushes with the authorities from time to time, sometimes on the way home after a "social session" with family or friends. Well, on my last birthday this happened to me. I was out with friends and had more than several Guinness' followed by a couple of bottles of rather nice red wine and of course some Bushmill's. Although "relaxed," I still had the common sense to know I was slightly over the limit. That's when I did something I've never done before - I took a bus home! Sure enough on the way there was a police roadblock, but since it was a bus they waved it past and I arrived home safely without incident. This was a real surprise to me, because I had never driven a bus before. I don't know where I got it, and now that it's in my driveway I don't know what to do with it. So, anyway, if you want to borrow it give me a call. Love Carl

    3. Carl, Your story reminds me of an incident in the 1950s in Enniskillen, when the 'Bus Station was in Eden Street, which is now the Pay Car Park.. Two National Service Airmen, from RAF Castle Archdale, had missed their 'Last Bus home' and, as the Buses in that Depot was never locked, they stole one and managed to get it out of the narrow Eden Street gate of the Depot (No mean feat with a car, never mind a bus). They drove it up Eden Street, turned right at the Diamond and on past the two War Memorials. They got as far as the newly opened "Farmer's Mart", where Dunns Store is now, where they crashed into the Wall of the Mart, right in front of RUC Constable Jackie Clarke, and promptly fell asleep in the Bus. Jackie called the Military Police (Red Caps) and the boys were arrested and charged with the offence. My late husband, Ken, was Duty Cpl and on Guard duty when they were returned to the Guard Room at Castle Archdale. It was the talk of the town at that time and is probably recorded in the Impartial Reporter of that time. I can't remember their names but one of them had received a "Dear John " letter from his girlfriend on the day before and had been drowning his sorrows. Ken and I used to laught about it every time we arrived in that Bus Depot from England for years after. I do NOT drink and drive. My licence is worth far more than a drink. Living in the country with no 'bus service I'd be lost without my little car. Viola --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. http://www.avast.com
