    3. Jack, Thanks so much for the excellent analysis and synthesis of the NATURE article. Your conclusion "a better statement of the finding would be that the presumptively Celtic areas within the UK show considerable fine genetic diversity among them. That is a statement that can be supported by the study's evidence and likely reflects the fact that Celtic culture is more frequently defined by its language, Gaelic, rather than by individual tribal components" is in accord with what I have recently learned from one of my courses, that "Celtic" primarily means language and shared culture, but is not racial. Archeologist Barry Cunliffe's theory was that the Celtic languages developed along the Atlantic coast as a lingua franca among sea-faring and trading peoples from Spain, France , Brittany, Cornwall, Ireland north to Britain and Scotland, etc. (in other words, the Celtic Fringe).
