    3. Dave & Dee, A couple of years ago beautiful wrought iron Gates and some fancy Capstones from the Pillars and entrances to plantation Houses went missing in a single Week. Only one Capstone of the 10 or so stolen was ever recovered at a Sunday Market near Aldergrove. But because there was no identifiable distinguishing Mark on it nothing could be done about it. Neither of two Gates ever have come to light. It is thought that they were cut to small pieces and weighed in amongst scrap metal by the thieves. Viola

    3. Some people would steal anything - tragic what is done to heritage sites. Fancy having the gall to steal tiles off a church roof, considered blasphemy in medieval times they would be hung, drawn, and quartered or something equally unpleasant. Wrought iron gates are always high on the hit list here too, beautiful things and prohibitively expensive to replace. Similar to those lovely old Townland names, once gone never to return. So proud of the folks who fight to retain them!
