Gidday from NZ ! Hope Y'All don't mind me poking my nose into your " stuff!"....I am constantly nibbling away at my Family Tree and History. My " wee bittie " of Irish, comes down from Isobel Kennedy, my 4x Grt.Grandma. Here's a sample of "Lalands" , which, if you Google it, you'll find is a Language in it's own right. ="Lowlands " It is the language of the Lowlands, and one of my Corresponding Grahams writes in it :- " So how are yis Bruce ? Masel' Ah'm doin' nae sae bad the 'noo. Ah' just go' back frae a wee trip tae Ireland tae catch up wi' some Rellies, so Ah'm awa tae ma bed the 'noo !" Talking flat oot face to face, I'm sure I'd have to seek several "Repeats ! Hope you think that is interesting ? I also recently discovered there is a Local Language , in the North of Ireland, but I can't think what it is called. It probably comes from the early 1600's , when King James Banished several hundred Grahams to an English owned Plantation in Ulster. If they were Scotch they'd have Scottish Gaelic.. If Welsh they'd have Welsh Gaelic... If English then very very few. Did any percentage of people in Fermanagh speak it? My ancestors left in the 1830s-1840s. I'd appreciate any insight you could offer. >> >>Thanks, >> >>Brandt ================================== https://www.google.ie/ ================================== http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/placenames/ ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to FERMANAGH-GOLD-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ================================== https://www.google.ie/ ================================== http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/placenames/ ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to FERMANAGH-GOLD-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
