Clive, Thank you so much for posting the link to '' whatsmyaddress ', had not heard of it before this. Marvellous resource; just tried it and it took me to an ancestor's original property immediately. Of course I have the GV map printed so knew which property to choose, nevertheless impressive! Have always used google earth but I believe this is better. Kindly, Dee. -----Original Message----- From: fermanagh-gold-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:fermanagh-gold-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Killyfole and District Development Association via Sent: Wednesday, 24 June 2015 5:51 AM To: fermanagh-gold@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: FERMANAGH-GOLD Can I make a suggestion? Eilish, The problem is that there are many different ways to spell the same placename. The older the stone the more often the spelling is different. For example some people use "agha" while others use "augha", some use "drum", while others use "drom". In Fermanagh the old council provided a site for looking up the official address ( http://whatsmyaddress.net/ ). Because of these spelling difference it might be advisable to record both the spelling on the headstone and the modern day spelling. For example Aughadromsee [Aghadrumsee] so that modern search engines can pick them up. I love these different spellings and so forth, so please do ask me if you need a hand trying to identify a place-name.
