    1. FERMANAGH-GOLDsome information request
    2. Hello: I have such a small connection to Fermanagh, but do enjoy and learn so much from this list. I usually just lurk around. Now I am wondering if someone can help me with a query of some of my Sligo ancestors. I keep running into two families living in the same area, in fact in the 1901 and 1911 census seem to be living beside each other. They came from the same area since registration began – my problem – one was Church of Ireland, and the other Roman Catholic. What is the chance that the RC one changed to that religion when he married? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you Eleanor

    3. Eleanor, What is the Name you're searching for? Mixed marriages happened and very often caused a rift in families. My mother did not know she had an Aunt Martha until after her mother, sister of Martha, died in 1958. Because Martha, Presbyterian, from Co Tyrone, had married into a RC family from Sligo. It took my mother until 1963 to trace that family., and I've still a contact with Martha's Gt G'daughter. 2. Hi Viola: The name is Boyd from Carrowdureen ?sp Dromore West, Skreen, County Sligo. When my husbands family started arriving from Cork, the one woman arrived a widow with her sons, said she had no daughters. Found out later she had three daughters but they changed from CoI to RC and she disowned them. Something similar to your mother's story. Then - one of her sons married RC and changed to that. Guess that was the way then.
