I may be biased, but I have yet to come across a genealogy group 1/10 as good as Fermanagh-Gold. My hat is off to all who participate and make this such a great site. My problem is that I have Johnstons and Johnstones, Hursts and Andersons also in Co. Derry. If you haven't tried the Rootsweb site for Londonderry you aren't missing much. Is there a chance that someone could set up a Derry-Gold site for us who are bipartisan??? That would give us an udder choice [weak pun, but intended];-) Cliff.
Cliff, I just took a look at the archives. It looks like Don Kelly (who used to admin this list) used to be the list admin for Derry. Maybe no one took it over after he passed away. If you are subscribed to the list, ask who the list admin is and see if you get a response. I did that with a list I belong and got no response. So, I contacted Rootsweb, and after they tried to contact the admin with no results, they put the list up for adoption and I adopted it. Still not very active yet but most of the traffic used to be forwarded from the Ancestry message boards and that process is not currently working. I am trying to work on that list but have put it aside until I finish some other priorities. Just curious to know what you find out. Cliff, I too have family links back through Tyrone to Kilrea, Coleraine and other places in Londonderry. Trouble with the Derry list is that the admin has it set for replies to go to individuals not to the entire members like FG. I joined the Derry one and unless one clicks reply to all it never appears to the members. I soon Unsubed from that one. We on FG are the very best at working together, helping each other and solving puzzles, even throwing in the off subject item as an aside occasionally. We are a Golden Family and I am proud to be a part of that family. Viola > On 22 Mar 2016, at 21:18, Cliff. Does the 1901 census for Ireland still exist in hard copy? If yes, can permission to see a hard copy return be obtained for review? James
