Janet and All, At risk of seeming a traitor to my Irish roots, I have to say that I have wanted to go back to Orkney for years. These islands were governed by Scandinavian Kings until about 500 years ago. Would be interested to know details of your adventure in Orkney. Getting there can be expensive. However the Orkney islanders are/were not Celts. They never spoke a Celtic language. Instead they were influenced by Vikings and Picts.
