Doug, I have the will of Robert Cowan from Glenkeen dated 4 Oct 1901 which mentions William Henry Fletcher Drumadravey as executor in case it is of interest to you : WILL of Robert Cowan Glenkeen Co Fermanagh. I Robert Cowan of Glenkeen Co. Fermanagh do will and bequeath to my wife Margaret Jane Cowan my entire interest in the farm of land I now hold and all other effects, within the house and on the farm, that I possess. At my wife's decease the said farm of land to fall to my eldest son William Robert Cowan, also I allow my wife to make a provision for each of the rest of the family should they think of leaving home, but I wish all to live together until able to do for themselves. My weekly tenant William John Love is to have his holdings as per agreement. I appoint as my executors William Quinn Drumarkey, and William Henry Fletcher Drumadravey. Dated this the fourth day of October one thousand nine hundred and one (4,10,1901) Pia.
Thank you Pia, William Henry Fletcher’s older brother John was my great grandfather. I am exploring wills because executors and administrators can sometimes suggest family connections. The 1901 census for Robert Cowan at Glenkeen shows he was 87 therefore bn abt 1814. In 1901, executor William Henry Fletcher was 54 and Quinn was 40, so a generation younger (at least). interestingly, William Henry Fletcher’s father William Fletcher was also still alive in 1901, age 89 so born abt 1812. This William Fletcher was my GG grandfather. So Robert Cowan 87 and William Fletcher 89 same generation and both lived same area, separated by one or two townlands. The 1901 census shows Robert Cowan’s wife is only 42 (although she has ballooned to 57 in the 1911 census) This has to be a second marriage for Robert. Or else Robert Cowan got married very very late in life!!! In 1901 he has a one year old at 87. What a guy. Do you happen to know if he had a first marriage and who his wife might have been? Also, when I looked at the Derryvullen burials, I see two Cowan burials where the location is recorded/transcribed as "Clonkeen??” Might this in fact be a mis-transcription of Glenkeen townland? There is no Clonkeen townland in the parish. And a Phibbs Alexander Cowan son of Robert bn 1829 again "Clonkeen??“ probably mis-transcribed from Glenkeen. And in I see your Phibs McGrigor with daughter Jane bn 1829 in the Derryvullen baptisms.
