    3. Richard, Please post details of who you are looking for, and what you know already. What is the furthest back person that you are sure of (or even pretty sure)? Give us names and dates for the person who left Ireland for Australia. When was he/she was born and where? (Even a guess on the date is helpful.) How did they get to Australia (convict or assisted immigrant)? When? If a husband and wife came together, did they bring children? Ages? Don't give us details about descendants in Australia, that doesn't help us go backwards. Did you obtain the passenger arrival (ship list) for that voyage? What religion were they? What records have you already looked at for Ireland? Census? Church records--which ones? There's a lot that can be done without setting foot in Ireland. People on this list are very helpful. And new people are always joining, so it doesn't hurt to repeat your questions every 4-5 months or so. Janet C. ------------- May I thank the people who responded to my posting of late January. Unfortunately, all suggested courses of action have already been followed, and nothing has been gained from them. As I stated, we live in Australia and have visited Ireland five times. We spent a lot of time in Roslea and Monaghan Town, with some stays up to 7 days. It's a long haul from here to Ireland, and we accept that our next visit may well be our last. Age and health must be taken into account. My wish was that someone from the Roslea/Clones/Monaghan Town area who was researching the McKenna family would reply to my posting. I am disappointed to reveal that such was not the case. Many headstones/gravestones in the cemetery beside the lovely St Tierney's Church prove that a strong McKenna connection still exists in the area. Your honour, I rest my case. Richard McKenna Tasmania Australia.
