    3. Hi Viola Do you know if William Crozier of Drumreilly parish in Co Leitrim is also related? He appears on the 1856 Griffiths in Cully townland (I think maybe he was a minister?) near the COI Church there that I have an interest in. Thanks David On 28/01/2016 3:37 AM, Viola Wiggins via wrote: > Actually, I think ALL the CROZIER Clan in Fermanagh and Tyrone are descended from one John CROZIER son of John who was granted land in Co Antrim. >

    2. Viola, I am new to this list and will post my research information shortly, but I am wondering why you believe that all the Croziers descended from John Crozier of Co. Antrim? Is there a descendant tree out there somewhere? I SO want to find my Crozier family!

    3. Welcome to our Golden circle. I was born a Crozier. During my researching on the origins of the Crozier families in Ireland I read on line about ten years ago that they descend from a John Crozier and his two sons who arrived in Co Antrim. One son went to Co Down and the other came to the Tyrone Fermanagh areas. That family started out in Yorkshire England. My Family lore handed down from my Grandfather through my Father tells a similar story of three CROSIERS fleeing from France during Louis XIV's Persecutions boarded a ship bound for England being shipwrecked off the coast of Galway. Spoken lore against documented lore? You choose. I go for documented lore. 3. Viola, There could be something about the family lore. A 2nd cousin of mine who had never met any of our family said the same as some of us. “ our Bustard family came from France.” Then, when I made a “cold call” to a Bustard in Virginia, he mentioned out of the blue and with no prompting that the Bustards came from France. The 2nd cousin pointed out that the” ard” ending on the name pointed to it being French. Well... maybe, but it is the name of a large bird. Love your story about the boat ending up in Galway. 3. The Galway story from my Grandfather, was that Three Crozier Brothers fleeing from Louis XIV of France, (1643 - 1715), joined a Ship bound for England. On that ship were a couple of Arabian Stallions gifted from the King of Arabia to the King of England. During a storm the ship was blown off course and was Shipwrecked just off the coast of Galway. The Stallions swam ashore and went wild in the Conemara area. They interbred with the Welsh Ponies, introduced by St Patrick, (AD387 - 493) who was captured from England, aged 16, and enslaved in Ireland by his Irish captors "looking after animals". He is credited with escaping and becoming a Christian but returned a few years later as an Evangalist to introduce Christianity to the Irish. That interbreeding produced the famous Conemara Ponies, with their slender Legs, Dappled Quarters and Arab head, deportment and Gait. There must be a written record of that story somewhere.
