    1. Re: FERMANAGH-GOLD Digest, Vol 11, Issue 178
    2. Steve Maguire via
    3. I visited Manorhamilton last September motivated by a baptism record for Robert Maguire(b abt 1845) son of Andrew Maguire (b abt 1819) and Rebecca (b abt 1822). Andrew and Rebecca were my second great grandparents. Other records in Boston indicate Rebecca was the daughter of Robert McKee and Margaret Stevenson. Robert would have been my Great Grandfather's older brother. Wendy from the Manorhamilton parish, who posts here, was very kind during my visit and went out of here way to allow me access to the old church (COI) in Manorhamilton, where Robert's baptism took place. There were many Stevensons in the Manorhamilton area and Wendy also generously shared information on her family genealogy . The only solid leads to the Maguire's who arrived in Boston come from the COI baptism record and a strong Y-DNA link to Carl Maguire who traced his family to just over the Leitrim border. The Maguire's joined a Church of Ireland parish in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston. My great grandfather, Andrew John Maguire, married Susan Walker of Donegal in Boston. They joined the Methodist Episcopal church probably because Susan was raised Methodist in Donegal. Another highlight of my Ireland trip was finding the Walker's abandoned seaside farm in Donegal and the house Thant my second great grandfather Arcibald Walker had built there. Always looking for mores clue as to my Irish Maguire's. Stephen J.
