Jeanne, I just posted to Fer-Gold suggestions on using the free transcriptions at Find My Past as a guide to the RC parish registers. I tried last night to find this marriage record using FMP but did not. My first suggestion is to look at surrounding parishes whose dates are early enough. That would be Aughalurcher 1835 (baptisms), Enniskillen 1818 (marriages) 1838 (Baptisms), and Dromore (in Tyrone) 1833 (marriages) and 1835 (baptisms). I have found records on my own that were mis-transcribed in FMP. So, do not assume that they do not exist if you don't find them on FMP. Are you aware of the Irish Naming Pattern? If not, you can see it here: http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/scgs-irishinterestgroup/2014-09/1411450408 This may help in looking for parents for this couple, IF they followed it. Not all of mine did, although they tended to follow it more in Ireland than after they left. You might use this: http://www.failteromhat.com/flax1796.htm to see if either family was involved in Flax Growing in the surrounding areas. This might give a clue as to father's names. Also, if Mary was C of I, you may find something here: http://ireland.anglican.org/about/168 as the marriage may have been recorded here, especially if a dowry was involved. The younger children were baptized in the RC church in Tempo (NLI records.) The 1901 Census shows that James was Catholic, while Maria (not Mary in this record) was CI. Appreciate any help you can give me. -----Original Message----- From: Marge in SoCal <[email protected]> To: Jeannedurney <[email protected]>; fermanagh-gold <[email protected]> Sent: Thu, Apr 21, 2016 3:05 pm Subject: Re: FERMANAGH-GOLD McKenna, James and Maguiness, Mary Jeanne, Welcome to Fermanagh-Gold! It would help if we knew the religion. When I see McKenna I think Presbyterian, but they could also be RC or C of I. They could also be something else. All of the different religions are beginning to put their information online. Do you have any clue as to what religion they were? There are no RC records at registers.nli.ie/ that go back to 1813 for anywhere in Fermanagh. Let us know what religion they were and we will try to help some more.
