I am trying to research my Irish ancestors and would appreciate any help , advice or guidance that you could provide. The information I have regarding my grandfather is as follows:- Name : John Lawrence KEOWN DOB : 1860 ?? DOM : 10th Nov. 1884 DOD. : 13th Feb. 1951 Wife's maiden name : DUFFY HER DOB. : 1863 ?? HER DOD. : 29th July 1943 John and Ann had ten children , all boys my father being one : Frances James KEOWN DOB : 28th Mar. 1907 DOM : 8th June 1940 , in London DOD : 19th Dec. 1959 , in London Wife's maiden name Shelia Mary O'Reilly HER DOB. : 1st July 1915 HER DOD : 5th Jan. 1996 HER Place of birth was Co Kerry Frances and Julia (often known as Julia) had three children , myself being one. To the best of believe only one of my uncles remained in Fermanagh , Daniel who managed the family farm in Cornahillta. I recall my father saying that his father ( my grandfather) was quite active in public life. I think he was a Guardian on a Board of Governors for a Workhouses ? among other activities. Hello Michael and Eilish! Michael, you and I are related. I would think that your John's father was Daniel Keown and one of John's brothers was Dean Keown of St Patrick's Purgatory. Duffy's also lived at Cornahilta, so it is possible that John married one of this branch. Please let me know what you need and I shall try to help. All the above are Catholic.
