Thanks Robyn... I know in the past some of the freebies only worked on the .co.uk site. So which address would be best for NZ? G’day Dave Some good sites for NZ for which you don’t need to wait for a free weekend on Ancestry are: Family Search - excellent for Probate Records as well as passenger lists < https://familysearch.org/search/collection/location/1927083?region=New+Zealand > Registrar-General < https://bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz/Home/ > “Papers Past” – digitised newspapers (National library) < http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/cgi-bin/paperspast > Dictionary of Biography < http://www.teara.govt.nz/en/biographies > The links page of the Western Australian Genealogical Society has about 70 listings < http://membership.wags.org.au/membership-mainmenu-44/genealogy-links > By the way, does your local library have an Ancestry subscription? Thanks David, No the Library doesn't have Ancestry sub at moment, plus is very restricted to the county one is in! Red tape, as each is funded county by county and even at that very little online. Most of my stuff comes via LDS, Paperspast etc etc plus old Ancestry sub, so the freebie is just to put some sources to them via trees on Ancestry (using the hints for them), Cemetery records 1800-2007, etc etc Even to get an InterLibrary book from another county is almost impossible as one can't see what another County has and even within the County some branches have some great books local to them, so if I need church Centenary booklets around Manorhamilton I have to go to branches there, same with Ballinamore/Mohill/Carrick on Shannon/Drumshanbo or Kinlough and possibly even Sligo due to its location. Unbelievably Primitive!! Although work is afoot to allow one access to each County's Library online stuff this summer but some have very little online. WiFi is primitive and although I've an OK signal the houses beside me don't as I'm up on a hill and only have WiFi for just over a year.
