If you use a Mac, you can get “screen grabs” of anything you see on the screen: Command/Apple + Shift + 3 Grabs everything visible on the screen Command/Apple + Shift + 4 Grabs just the selected area (outlined by clicking and dragging the box that appears) Another tool I find really handy to preserve those gems I find when doing genealogy is to “pin” the location of something I find and select an image as the visual icon to represent it using PINTEREST. This application is free, easy to install and handy for all sorts of things from planning a vacation, to finding Christmas gifts, saving recipes to headstones pictures. You create virtual “cork boards” to which you “pin" little icons (so you’ll remember what caught your eye in the first place) and then just click the little icon that shows up on your web browser tool bar, select the available images to represent the web page, and the board you want to put it on. It doesn’t save anything on your computer, but the URL of the site where you found something interesting online in your pinterest account, so you can return to it later. It’s interesting to wander through others boards to see what THEY have found!
