Hello, I am still after all these years struggling with my great grandmother! She came to Australia by herself in 1852 on the Stebenheath and settled in Melbourne after working off debt? to a property owner in Colac Victoria Aus.. The details on her children's birth certificate's suggest she was born approx.. 1832 in Brookeborough Fermanagh with father's name John, called an undertaker and mother's name margaret. They were Church of England in Melbourne. She married a George Williams and the Australian children's names were George, Fanny? , Mary, Edward, Elizabeth and Margaret. My information as you can see is very limited but any help would be appreciated, . QUINN. I also have a gr.gr grandfather William Quinn whose army records say he was born in 1788 in "Templecarn near Pettigo". He married Sophia Fox in 1812 in County Down and eventually they left Ireland for North America in 1830. = not sure if it was with the army or migration. They settled in New Brunswick and the children appear to be George, Hannah, Hugh, Alexander from Ireland and Robert and Margaret born in New Brunswick. William died in 1845. The family appeared on a few census lists but besides thus all I have is Ro bert joining the British army and Margaret marrying and leaving for Australia, Although this William quinn is not from Fermanagh I was told there was a connection between Templecarn and Fermanagh???? Regards, Margaret Brookes (the Brookes name is my husbands and they seem to be Warwickshire people) -----Original Message----- From: fermanagh-gold-request@rootsweb.com [mailto:fermanagh-gold-request@rootsweb.com] Sent: 08 April 2018 22:59 To: fermanagh-gold@rootsweb.com Subject: FERMANAGH-GOLD Digest, Vol 14, Issue 83 Send FERMANAGH-GOLD mailing list submissions to fermanagh-gold@rootsweb.com To subscribe or unsubscribe via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to fermanagh-gold-request@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <653429962.105156.1523188686348@connect.xfinity.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 ************
Margaret you may already have had your question answered but the connection between Templecarne and Fermanagh is that the Parish of Templecarne covers part of Fermanagh on its east and part of Co. Donegal on its west. I hope this makes sense. Margaret in Oz.
