My folks are the BAMFORDs of Ramult (Aghalurcher): Alexander and Jane, Joseph, William, Christopher, Nancy, Jane, and my ggg-grandmother, Margaret. Joseph and William emigrated to eastern Ohio, followed by Margaret in 1865. Nancy married a Nivens and emigrated to Missouri.Margaret emigrated first to Ontario, where she married William BRYANS. William and his three brothers, John, James and Richard emigrated to Ontario before 1840. I know the BRYANS name is prevalent in the Lisnaskea area of Fermanagh, but Richard is not at all a common name among the BRYANS. So I remain stumped as to their origins. Hello, I am still after all these years struggling with my great grandmother! She came to Australia by herself in 1852 on the Stebenheath and settled in Melbourne after working off debt? to a property owner in Colac Victoria Aus.. The details on her children's birth certificate's suggest she was born approx.. 1832 in Brookeborough Fermanagh with father's name John, called an undertaker and mother's name margaret. They were Church of England in Melbourne. She married a George Williams and the Australian children's names were George, Fanny? , Mary, Edward, Elizabeth and Margaret. My information as you can see is very limited but any help would be appreciated, . QUINN. I also have a gr.gr grandfather William Quinn whose army records say he was born in 1788 in "Templecarn near Pettigo". He married Sophia Fox in 1812 in County Down and eventually they left Ireland for North America in 1830. = not sure if it was with the army or migration. They settled in New Brunswick and the children appear to be George, Hannah, Hugh, Alexander from Ireland and Robert and Margaret born in New Brunswick. William died in 1845. The family appeared on a few census lists but besides thus all I have is Ro bert joining the British army and Margaret marrying and leaving for Australia, Although this William quinn is not from Fermanagh I was told there was a connection between Templecarn and Fermanagh???? I have very little information on my Willis connection other than the name of Catherine Willis (my ggggrandmother) They were listed as living in Monawilkin which isn't too far from Killesher? I visited Fermanagh, NI a couple of years ago and was told that Monawilkin was mainly uninhabitable. I was introduced to a local gentlemen with last name Eaton. We had a very nice visit and I discovered that they have the given name of WILLIS passed down through their family. This has to be more than a coincidence. He showed me the old EATON stone house (just a corner standing now). This was in BOHO, which is even closer to Killesher? I would appreciate any info you might have to help make a link here.
