Marge, I think it may be a combination of Holidays and Websites and Providers updating Compliance with the new Data Protection Laws being introduced at the end of this month as well as Ancestry's taking over of other websites and introducing new charges where previously there was no extra charge. Personally I will loss the use of my Tesco.net email address on my desktop computer in the near future due to TalkTalk taking over from Tesco.net and they want me to change my Email address, Landline, Mobile Phone and that would land me with an additional cost of approx £10 sterling per month over and above what I pay now. Regards Viola
Since we have been so slow we dropped to #13 on the list of top RW lists and KERRY is #4 !!!!! Come on folks, where is your competitive spirit? I love BOTH lists (my father's family is from Kerry) BUT I have a separate email JUST for Fer-Gold because it USED to be so busy. And this goes back to MANY YEARS ago. So what's up? I know I am busy right now and do not have time for my own genealogy, but what is everybody else's excuse. I still check the list EVERY day and answer when I have the answer (unless someone else has already answered). Have you all finished your family trees? If so, let's hear some success stories. Slán, Marge in Southern California Searching: Golden, Sullivan, Kelly, Shea, O'Connor in Kerry and Connecticut Fee, Cassidy, Gilbride in Fermanagh, Cavan and Connecticut Lynch in Kildare, Limerick and Connecticut Walsh, Stackpole, Garry, Donovan, Doyle, Clowney/Clooney, King in Kildare
Thank you to everyone for answering, so much appreciated. Our server was down for the past several days and it was impossible to ascertain if the List or my computer was to blame. Have a lovely day, everyone. What would our ancestors have to pay for a "typical" headstone/gravestone/ etc.? What would the family "typically" pay to add new inscriptions to a stone already in the cemetery? How much would they have had to pay for a burial plot? Just for curiosity, what would the "typical" rates be for those now? Only curious. Vynette Sage

Thank you all for your confirmation that it is not 'just me' who is affected. I've used Google and Internet explorer and get the message on both. With the coming New Data Protection Law coming into force soon, a lot of websites have been upgrading. They are rushing their 'new version' on line before they have prooved that the upgrade works. I use the irishgenealogy site a lot, both at home and when working as a Volunteer with the Fermanagh Genealogy Centre in Enniskillen. May will be a frustrating month if, whatever needs fixing, is not done soon, as I am doing extra Thursdays to cover for someone else as well as my own Thursday's. If any of you find an address for "Contact" please let me know. I look on Google as my best friend but even that can't find a contact for them. Grrrrr. We all know about "angry young men"! Who ever heard of an angry old woman. You have now! Viola
Hi Vi and List - yes I have had the same thing. No-one knows how to contact them. It seems there is a hacker problem in the site and they just want to keep everyone off the site while they are fixing it. But being a holiday weekend it may take a while! Hello Viola, Yes I'm getting the same message and I thought it was because I use the site so much. I thought the site was refusing entry to my specific computer and/or my address only. So I was going to try using a different entry source today. When I try to get into the site on Internet Explorer, I get an 'HTTP 403 Forbidden' error message and the explanation is that "Internet Explorer was able to connect to the website, but it does not have permission to view the webpage." I'm wondering now if the problem is associated with Internet Explorer. Never ran into this before.
