    3. I also am grasping for straws in my search, before attending the Ulster Historical Foundation conference in September. . . hope to meet you there, Jan Clizer. . . 1810: Richard CROZIER b. Co. Tyrone (according to his gravestone but perhaps he was born close to the Tyrone / Fermanagh border?); emigrated to Canada probably about 1830's; d. Erin, Ontario, Canada February 1861. Married Elizabeth Grindell (b. 1810 Co. Monaghan), (marriage registration unfound) about 1838; she was daughter of Henry Grindell (b. 1764 Co. Monaghan) and Susannah Grindell (b. 1789 Co. Monaghan). Richard and Elizabeth Crozier had 5 children: John, James, Margaret Ann, Robert Henry, Susannah. Given the naming conventions, is there anyone out there who can give me a hint on any connections to Croziers who just might be related? I have no information about Richard Croziers parents or siblings, or the Irish townland / village / where he might have lived. . . I have lots of information about the family after 1836 but I am in great need of the Irish history.

    3. Jan, Belmore Mountain, makes sense to me because my Crozier's of Aghakeeran (Boho) is slap Bang on the side of that Mountain. They were married to Irwin and Britten/an, of Boho. Naming patterns of Richard, James and John, for boys and Anne, Mary, Marjorie and Elizabeth for the girls. My GFather John, was born in Derrygiff, but his father was born in Boho and they are all buried in Boho Churchyard. I do know that my Uncle, Richard Benjamin Crozier, went to join relative's in Canada in the early 1900s. He took sick there and my father, Jack, was despatched to nurse him. Dad took a job in a livery stable to earn the money to pay for R B's medication and Doctor's fees. I do not know where they were in Canada. They returned to Ireland just before the outbreak of WW1. I was not listening close enough when I was a small child and my Uncle , Aunt and my Father spoke about their childhood and relatives. Viola

    3. Am grasping at straws trying to reasonably identify somewhere to begin looking in Ireland ... 1820's: several siblings born to John & Deborah Irwin, said to be in Fermanagh. The family emigrated in 1831 > Canada, stayed in Montreal 3 years. Spent the next 30-odd years in Ontario, during which time my ancestor Francis Irwin (3rd great uncle) founded the 'town' of Belmore in Turnberry Twp., Ontario. Wouldn't it stand to reason that the town *might *be named after where the family left in Ireland? So maybe search in the vicinity of Belmore Mountain, outside of Enniskillen? OR.... around Castle Coole, which has been the seat of the Earls of Belmore for many moons .... thoughts? I'm attending the Ulster Historical Foundation's wonderful research tour in early September .... PRONI's absolutely fantastic, but I've learned it's pretty fruitless to search unless one knows of a place to begin looking .... :)) Thank you! 3. Kate LY after sharing two weeks in the south with Family, my Bride and I headed north via Tara to find our Darling Matriarch. We stayed with Molly as Vi suggested. Recommend Riverside as a good base location to explore Enny, Loch Erne, Boho, Beleek etc. Molly's breakfast Ab/Fab. Vi picked us up each morning in her Ford Focus and we headed into the heart of Fermangh eventually discovering my Bride's McCaffrey Ancestral farm. You wiill find every minute spent with Vi to be laugh filled, educational, pure joy...Time will pass way too quickly. Our next visit with Vi, I intend to bring a voice recorder...which I wish I would have done :-( After spending three days with her we headed up to Donegal to 'recover' on the Strand a couple of days then north to Derry, the Causeway, Bushmills et al before swinging down to Belfast. A few days there then hopped over to Edinburgh which was Grand. A few days there then north to my Scottish Ancestral home at Kirremuir. A few days there with a couple of Highland side trips, Braemar, Balmoral and the spectacular surrounds...returning to Dublin to recover before heading home. We were 'across the Pond. 32 days...it went by in a blurrrrr. Record everything you can !! May the Weather Goddess smile on you....we had amazing good fortune....very little rain. When we were on Dingle Peninsula April 16-19...bright sun, cloudless sky...people(not us) swimming in the Ocean ! It was hard to leave there especially after having discovered our Grandson's (travelling with us) Family farm at Ballyandreen, overlooking Dingle Bay. Just realized I'm gettin carried away here....You get the idea...you're gonna be 'Over the Moon' and you won't wanna go home Safe Travels Rob in MA Shire's > On June 8, 2018 at 4:58 AM Viola Wiggins wrote: > > > Kate, > Riverside Farm B&B, on the Derrylin Road is a Home From Home and many Golders have stayed there. 3. Kate, If you go to Edinburgh Things to do. Walk up to the Castle and look out over the Firth of Forth and see the Mariner's Ball. If you do this about 12.58pm watch it. When the "One O'Clock Gun goes off, the Ball drops. The first time I was shown that spectacle no mention was made of the Gun and I nearly jumped out of my skin. See Greyfriars Bobby, which was the wee dog faithful to his master who is buried in Greyfriars Graveyard. Bobby lay on his master's grave and every day when the Gun went off he made his way to the Candle market for his lunch before returning to the grave. That dog was given the Freedom of Edinburgh for his faithfulness. (Read the Story) See The Heart Of Midlothian. A heart picked out in the Pavement with Cobbles. Tradition says you should spit on the Heart for Good Luck. See the Forth Bridge, at one time the greatest Engineering feat in the World. It is said that painting it takes 365 days. So there is always painters working on it as it requires annual attention because of the Salty spray affecting the metal. The windiest place to stand is at the top of the steps at Waverly Station, beside the Waverly Gardens off Princes Street. The Edinburgh Tattoo is Held in September. That would be an enjoyable evening if you could be there. Edinburgh and the surrounding area is steeped in history and lore. Regards Viola

Need a car as it is about 5-8 minutes out and it is close enough to Enniskillen library and the genealogical centre as well. But it might be worth finding a town land B&B near where your ancestors lived as well. The locals may be able to help. Warren Thomas Sent from my iPhone

Hi Kate - while we were on a trip round Ireland 2 years ago we stayed overnight at Rosepark House in Derry/Londonderry which was brilliant I gave it 5 stars on Trip Advisor. Thomas and Greta were the hosts and we paid £67 for both of us.  info@roseparkhouse.com What made it special, apart from the delicious breakfast, was that Thomas has been heavily involved in the peace process in the town since the 1970s and he told us so much about the history when we arrived. He was so unbiased that it took us a while to work out which community he came from. Cannot recommend highly enough if you are interested in Irish history. We moved after a day or two in each place as we had so many places to visit for FHistory, We had 3 or 4 nights in Enniskillen. Another member of FG drove us around the Boho/Legland area with Viola as a guide, She was brilliant, showing directions and suggesting where to go for lunch, Before we left Enniskillen she invited us back to her house and helped us when we got lost on the road once by driving out and leading us back to the main road. The area my family came from was extremely rural with very narrow roads and tracks and no signposts. Best wishes for a lovely trip! Val Mc > >

Both townlands are not that far from Corragunt, but I don't know of any connection between the Murphy families - although there may well have been a connection further back. The lack of baptism records for Roslea before 1862 makes it difficult to make connections! 3. Brandt, Drumkeeran came under the Ballyshnnon Registration District following Civil Registration commenced. I have seen entries for Baptisms from Drumkeeran listed under Ballyshannon in the past,. I searched irishgenealogy.ie for marriage both names under Enniskillen, Ballyshannon and Manorhamilton Reg Districts hoping to Double match the names where the Image was not available, but did not find them. What are you basing your information on? Marriages traditionally took place in the Parish of the Bride. That Register may not now exist and may have been burned in the attack on the GPO in Dublin in 1922. Otherwise it requires the foot on the ground. What was Henry Gibson's Occupation? Did they have children born in Ireland? Some families followed traditional naming patterns. So if their first son was Robert, searching for a Robert Stephenson's address may establish Anne's birth Townland. If second son was Robert, finding a Townland under a Robert Gibson may pinpoint Henry's birth Townland.
