Hundreds are searching for Armstrongs, but is anyone connected to or searching for, Armstrongs of Mullanmeen, Parish of Drumkerran? Thanks, Carole .
Please Dave, where can these Will records you are sending to the list be found. Thanks, Carole.
Maybe the word should be ‘probated’. Margaret in Oz.
When John died in 1817, his Will wasn't administered by by Isabella or William, the executors! Whoever was to get anything didn't.... When William died his son William was the only living legatee so if others were supposed to inherit via terms of Will they didn't, so the Will couldn't be Probated! The Will was executed! Killed off....Died. The Will of Hugh Armstrong who died Aug 1793 was left unadministered by Anne Armstrong otherwise Shields (Widow). It was granted to William Lloyd (administrator of Elizabeth Lloyd's estate), as Elizabeth Lloyd (Widow) deceased was the only surviving Legatee... he had to prove she was the only surviving Legatee when she died!! No... some weren't carried out by the inheritors but next generation so needed to be proven! I think it is possible one is a Birth Date in Civil Reg and other possibly a Baptism date in Church. The 1901 census for Robert Cowan at Glenkeen shows he was 87 therefore bn abt 1814 BUT it is really 67...... So Robert Cowan 67 and William Fletcher 89 NOT THE SAME generation and both lived same area, separated by one or two townlands. The 1901 census shows Robert Cowan's wife is only 42 (although she has ballooned to 57 in the 1911 census) This DOES NOT have to be a second marriage for Robert. Or else Robert Cowan got married very very late in life!!! In 1901 he has a one year old at 67. What a guy. Hi Vi! Och! Wonderful Lady that Yis are .....at all ! Not only did I see you , on Irish TV, thanks... ! ! .... I believe it may have been due to Eilish giving us all a Weblink... but now, I can read even more aboot Yer early History ; which , although ten years older than mine , is nae sae different ! Well do I remember the SUPER smell , of the Toast, being 'done' on the open Fire ! Well do I recall the Chestnuts , on a wee Hearth Shovel , also 'on the fire '.... Well do I remember the boggors , simply EXPLODING, because someone had , in their excitement to " Get another lot on, before the Fire cools"....had forgotten to make a wee nick in the skin/shell, before putting them on the heat ! And so , Vi....did you go around the District " An yer we Pony", with the word going out "Milko , Milko " etc ? This is what I learned my Grandma ( Mary Elizabeth Jones , of Pyll Dhu Farm , in Monmouth )used to do as a child/teenager. With a Pony and Trap. a gert big Pail of newly 'drawn' Milk on the back, and go all around the Neighbours, before getting ready to go to School !...This was a Place ,where I may have told you before, she , nor any other Student was allowed to be heard speaking ONE WORD of the Welsh language, on pain of getting the cane , in front of the whole School ! Rotten Sods that they were ! God's Blessing Vi, and I hope your Easter , is one worth remembering , for MANY years to come. I am researching BOOTH, COULTER and ADAMS in County Fermanagh. My great grandfather is Robert Coulter Booth born 20 Aug 1845 in Ratoran and baptised in Knockmanaul Methodist Church in Magheracross Parish, County Fermanagh. His parents were James Booth (born about 1824 possibly in Ferney the son of George Booth c 1806-? and Jane Morris c 1802-?) and Jane Coulter born about 1824. Robert left Ireland in November 1866 and migrated to Australia. James was in the army for 20 years and spent about 10 years in India during the Indian Mutiny. Jane died in India about 1865 and James returned to Enniskillen where he remarried in Irvinestown, County Fermanagh. I have not been able to find any record of Jane's birth, marriage or death. Through various immigration records I have found that Robert's cousins were Alexander Adams, Jane Adams and Eliza Coulter. Alexander Adams was born in Ballydoulagh, Enniskillen and baptised on 14 Sep 1835 Magheracross Church of Ireland in County Fermanagh. His parents were John Adams and Margaret Coulter. Alexander migrated to Australia in 1856 and his parents were recorded as living in Magheracross. Jane Adams, Alexander's sister, was born about 1842 (records not found yet) and migrated to Australia in 1865. At that time it was recorded that Margaret had died and John was living in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh. I have not yet found the birth, marriage or death records of either John or Margaret. Eliza Coulter was born in about 1838 I believe in Enniskillen and migrated to Australia in 1859 and her parents are listed as David and Jane, both dead. I have not been able to find any further details in Ireland for Eliza, David or Jane Coulter. I have made the assumption that Jane, Margaret and David are siblings but am trying to find proof of this and also who their parents are. Robyn Booth
I have come across Johnston/es from Ederney in my family tree. Here's a link to one of their photos: Sarah (Johnstone) Johnston - 1885 by CJ Max | | | | | | | | | | | Sarah (Johnstone) Johnston - 1885 by CJ MaxSarah (Johnstone) Johnston, 1856-? Sarah was from Crysler, Finch Township, Stormont County, Ontario, Canada, daughter of Archibald Johnstone and Jane Reynold... | | | | View on www.pbase.com | Preview by Yahoo | | | | | Should you have a living male Johnston I would strongly urge you have his Y-DNA tested with FTDNA. If he belongs to our family, even the least expensive 12-markers test will show the kinship as we have a very distinctive Y-DNA profile. Or you can just go all out for the 111-markers test, in which case if you are kin we can run the branch on our Johnston Phylogenetic Tree. Good hunting, Cliff.
