She married Andrew Armstrong & had several children that I am now trying to decipher.  That is all I know....sorry. Kaye Sent from Yahoo Mail. Elizabeth LAIRD, married circa 1823 to Mathew Dane and emigrated to Canada in 1839. Hannah LOCKHART, married circa 1770 to Richard Dane of Cosbystown. Catherine LIPSETT, married circa 1730-45? to Paul Dane, son of Christopher Dane of Killyhevlin and Mary Hamilton of Monea. If you think any of these wonderful women are part of your family and you have any info linking them to the Dane clan, I'd sure be pleased to hear from you. Also, belated thanks to those of you that gave me some thoughts on the location of Rosslane/Roslean in Inishmacsaint parish. Still hoping to hear from someone researching ARMSTRONG or CROOK families, also recorded as living in that area. 3. After my older cousin in Ohio asked me about "Easter Houses" that her Mother, Martha, nee Clarke, mentioned when speaking of her childhood in Fermanagh, got me wondering if other families had that tradition in their families. Martha, was the Second oldest of 12 children born to Samuel and Margaret J Clarke (nee Kidd of Kilrea), had gone to the USA with two brothers, Samuel and Thomas, and her sister Caroline (Carry). My late mother, Alice, was the youngest of Martha's 11 siblings, and was always up for a game. She showed us how her and her siblings used to build a tented Easter House, with a stone 'Fireplace', where we boiled eggs and made Toast over the Turf fire, while My parents milked the Cows. No toast ever teased like that made by holding a slice of plain loaf bread in front of a peat fire, on a long handled wire 'Fork'. 3. Hi all. Good to see the list up and running again. My interests are Hugh McDonnell and wife Bessie Maguire, m. 1857 in Newtownbutler RC Church. I have most of family moving forward but cannot go any further back. Bessie may be related to Terence Maguire and Margaret Leonard of Kinawley but no definite proof. Autosomal DNA has helped fill in some missing holes in my tree but nothing on the Irish lines. Janet Morgan in chilly upstate New York.

I visited Manorhamilton in Leitrim a few years ago. This was based on a COI baptism record that may have been for Andrew and Rebecca’s child Robert. My dna links to Carl carry the path just over the border into Fermanagh . I have found other fragments that led me to visit west Fermanagh. But all and all, my Maguire trail is cold. Stephen J. 3. Main Interests in Fermanagh: ARMSTRONG (Letterkeen, Mullanmeen, Dooraa), CREIGHTON (Rossharbour)Have already connected Armstrong tree with George Armstrong on this list, through a family letter, which demonstrated the usefulness of exploring parts of your tree forward rather than just working back. Have already connected with Margot though family tree DNA, our ancestors share the J-M172 haplogroup. But unfortunately our trees have not connected as yet. Also as Margot pointed out, a lot of our connections are Fosters and Forresters, so don't take it for granted that a Y-DNA test will trace your SURNAME back, as things may not be as they seem somewhere back on the paternal line.Through going to Mullanmeen and taking to a local resident (NOBLE), I was put in touch with living cousins from the Armstrong family from Mullanmeen, which also broadened my knowledge and connections as well as providing anecdotes and photographs that have helped add to the family history.I also have a local historian (John Cunningham) to thank, who helped identify photographs of my grandfathers, which located the region the Armstrong's had lived, as I knew that my grandfather had visited the area. Apologies for not contributing much to this list over the years, compared to the invaluable help I have received. Thanks. Mark

    1. FERMANAGH-GOLDRe Roll Call and Research Status Update
    2. David Cowan
    3. Hi everyone, I have been on the list since early last decade. Here is my update. The ancestral couple of relevance to Fermanagh (and Tyrone) are John Cowan and his wife, Margaret Lammey (spelling used in Australia). Their marriage record shows at the time of marriage in the1830s that John lived in the Fermanagh townland of Magheracross and Margaret lived in one of the townlands in Tyrone with ‘Tattymoyle’ in the name (i.e. Lower, Middle and Upper). John’s Y-DNA is R-CTS6838 (revised from R-L21 early in 2018). The ancestral line appears to be associated with the recent history of the Scottish clan, Gregor, based on the distant match with Sir Malcolm MacGregor, the current clan chief. Otherwise, the Y-DNA experience has been disappointing with a small number of very distant surname matches (i.e. about five out of 4000 plus matches). I have a fully triangulated autosomal DNA match with a woman in Canada who is probably still subscribed to this list and whose most distant ancestor is also a John Cowan who lived near my ancestor in Tyrone. Some of this John’s children married into families in Fermanagh including Elliot. If anyone is interested, my Gedmatch number is T564441. John and Margaret immigrated to South Australia in 1852 with five children. Also of relevance is the spouse of their eldest son, Thomas (1839-1890), Mary Jane Armstrong (1840-1890), who was probably born in the townland of Ross in Fermanagh to Thompson Armstrong (c1806 -1880) and Helen (probably Ellen) HAMILTON (?- before 1856). Thomas and Mary Jane (as the family call her) met at a Methodist conference in Adelaide in the late 1850s and married in 1861. In 2010 and 2011, I was able to build an extended family tree for Mary Jane thanks to help from subscribers on Fer-Gold including Viola Wiggins. Mary Jane’s siblings, some with Fermanagh-born spouses, also immigrated with four going to South Australia and one to the colony of Victoria. Regards David Cowan Adelaide, South Australia
