    2. Paul, You must have the old version of the parish history, There is a new one, published in 1990. It is called the History of the Parish of Devinish and Boho, and I'm sure it draws on the older book. . (The two parishes were combined in the late 1980s. Anyway, it is written by an E. George Elliot, who is a native of the parish. (You can get the book from Hall's booksellers in Enniskillen.) You might want to write to the author. I suggest you look for a marriage record for your grandfather, since marriages for Protestants started in 1845. That will give you both parents names, and then go back from there. You might also write to the county library in Enniskillen. Considering that the Briens were a prominent family, you should not have trouble finding info on them and eventually make the link-up. But as always, the best way to go is from yourself backwards. Btw, John Dawson Brien was the landowner to whom my ancestors paid rent at the time of Griffiths Valuation.
